Music Business…
It is definitely a mystery, that ‘s for sure! I don’t quite know if I understand it, or will ever understand it. As a new artist, it has been so difficult to figure out the best ways to market myself the most effectively. That has been the biggest hurdle thus far. I’m trying to overcome these things by staying positive and really throwing myself “out there.” So far I have been well received, and that has been hugely encouraging.
Releasing singles…
in my opinion, is always a good move when preparing to release an album. Particularly if you’re also wanting to tour in order to promote that. It gives your fan base a chance to learn your songs, so they can sing along with you, which is the greatest feeling as an artist.
Social media…
Well, being that I’m a twenty-something in today’s society, social media has been a good friend to me. It has given me the chance to reach people I otherwise may have never been able to reach with my music.
I would definitely say that the current, trendy music has…
a tight hold on the music scene in general. But there are still places and people that very much appreciate all forms of music, new and old. I’m not worried at all for a general love of music.
In the summer of 2010…
Dave Barnes came to Knoxville to play Sundown in the City. Toward the end of his set, it started pouring the rain, and no one cared a bit. They were having a blast dancing and singing in the rain, and that’s when I thought, “I want to experience that someday.”
I would love to have 5 minutes with Dave Barnes…
because he is the reason I started pursuing a career in music in the first place; and I think I could learn a lot from him and his knowledge of the music industry.
Too Beautiful…
My wife is the most wonderfully supportive person I know. As we were looking over the track list, we kept feeling like something was missing. She finally came to the conclusion that it was that we didn’t yet have a “sexy” song. So lo and behold, we came up with this.
This EP was…
written as a love letter to my wife, Megan. She has been so supportive through this whole process of getting everything recorded and squared away. So with this particular project, you can expect to best receive it if you’re in a relationship of some kind. But beyond that, I have hopes that the music itself can be appreciated for what it is, and I hope that it has people chomping at the bit to get a hold of the full-length album when it drops in the very near future!
I live in Maynardville, TN, but grew up in Knoxville, TN…
The music scene there is so diverse. People from all walks of life and from all musical backgrounds can find their own niche within the community. Market Square is most definitely the place to hang out when it comes to the musical experience. Really gives you a chance to take in all the culture of Knoxville.
