The music industry is one-sided and disappointing,
I think the music industry is a shell of what it used to be with the same people on top pumping the same garbage to the ears of the listener.  As a DMV artist trying to promote myself and watching others do the same, I have seen showcases suck $300 out of artists to give bullshit feedback, no promotion, and joke results; then ask you to try again next month for a slightly discounted price @deffthekidd

The music industry is one-sided and disappointing,
I think the music industry is a shell of what it used to be with the same people on top pumping the same garbage to the ears of the listener. As a DMV artist trying to promote myself and watching others do the same, I have seen showcases suck $300 out of artists to give bullshit feedback, no promotion, and joke results; then ask you to try again next month for a slightly discounted price. I respect all lyricism where I see it; but there is no redemption for the music industry, there are careers that need to end, and endless steps that need to be taken to even begin to fix it. On top of that, people have begun to believe that the worst rappers are the best; I could go on forever but that’s a message for a later song lls.

Pros I have experienced in music include the family and producer
support I have received, also the feeling of doing something truly worthwhile with my life. Cons include being overshadowed by garbage rappers with more promotion, the disdain that comes with saying I’m a rapper, having empty pockets due to promoting a dream, and hearing that my music won’t be heard due to where I come from.

I have heard the phrase you can’t my entire life,
it’s gotten so those two words are a trigger that makes me want to prove whoever says them wrong. Every time I hear a garbage rapper brag on a song the fire burns even more. The disdain I face every day fuels my ambition to become the best I can and purge rap once and for all.

I would choose to have 5 minutes alone with Wiz Khalifa,
I think he could give relevant advice on coming from nothing. Also as a fellow stoner I’d need to try what he smokes XD

I’ve been a musician my entire life,
but I got into rap specifically about three years ago. I watched other rappers toss lyricism aside and decided to start writing for myself to prove to the world and to myself that lyricism wasn’t dead.

No Reason

This is one of those songs I wrote just to have fun and show off with my lyricism.
I started writing the song while drinking at a party and finished it the morning after while hungover, it was recorded that night XD

What I hope to do with this song is express my lyricism
in a way that people will pay attention to it, with later works my true message of what I think rap really is will make an appearance; but for now, I just enjoy making music that people can play on repeat.

I live in Mitchellville, Maryland;
I was born in DC but spent my whole life in PG county; minus the many summers spent in Rose Hill North Carolina. In the DMV every other person wants to be a rapper, and when you tell people you’re a musician you risk slight disdain. If you’ve got no-one to invest in you, you’re ignored, making it very difficult to actually move forward in the music industry. As an unknown artist in the DMV every step forward is another step to nowhere. When it comes to places to go who you know is just as important as where you go, DC has plenty to see in the morning and even more to see at night. As a college student however, I spend most of my nights at different campuses like UMD or Bowie State, where there’s always a party to be found somewhere.
