Music business…
I love music and I understand business so I feel great about it haha

Pros and cons…
I’m sure I could write out all the things I love about it and all the things that frustrate me but I choose to just do what I love and learn as much as I can and trust that the universe will make the right connections for me. I’m a big believer in thoughts becoming things so I only think about the good stuff and the good stuff equals I love to play music and I’m pumped that there is such thing as making a career out of it :0)

Hurdles and pitfalls…
I don’t give them the time of day. I know there are gonna be a million NO’s before I get the big YES. I’m enjoying making my way through those NO’s as quick as possible by submitting myself and auditioning for as many opportunities as I find. lol

Social media…
I love being able to directly communicate with fans. The ability to share my music and my life with so many people is so amazing. I have built such an amazing army of loyal fans through social media so I will be forever grateful for it :0)

Challenges that you’ve had to overcome…
The only challenge I’ve found is not being able to reply to every person as quickly as I’d like to. Everyone tells me there will come a time when I can’t reply to everyone but I’m takin that challenge because I really want to thank every person for every kind word and every music share :0)

Singles vs an album…
I would love to throw out all the music that I’ve written that I love all at once but finances don’t really make that possible so it’s forced me to be more selective and paced. I like that singles give the fans one thing from you to dwell on and hopefully want more from but I love that a body of work can show so much more than one song can as far as range of emotion and creative ability. I think there’s a place for both.

As far as marketing is concerned…
singles can give the opportunity to build up each song and surprise the audience with a release one at a time and that can keep the audience engaged for longer. Releasing an album all at once might cause the audience to skim the songs rather than really dive into them.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Other than that, I would love to sit down and talk with Kelly Clarkson. She is the queen bee of all musical queens as far as I’m concerned. I love her honesty and vulnerability in the songs she writes and how she seems like a big goofball like me. I think we’d get along great and I would just love to take 5 minutes to become best friends with her so I could get unlimited minutes of advice lol.

Current and trendy…
There is a balance in everything we do as commercial artists. The trick is being able to marry your creative artistic direction with sounds that speak to people. You can have as interesting a message as you want as an artist but if you don’t find a way to reach people in way they want to be reached (trendy song styles ect) no one is going to hear that awesome interesting message. I generally feel the urge to write very poetic style ballads that don’t give too much away with the story but get the point across metaphorically but I’ve learned with the help of co-writing and studying current music how to say what I want to say and how I want to say it in a way that people will get and enjoy. I think that’s what will be found on this new EP.

I am most afraid of… fear. So I avoid it at all costs :0) Oh & birds.

My personal definition of success is..
I think success comes from doing what you love. Working hard with a smile because you love and believe in what you are doing and always feeling a sense of pride with each accomplishment.

One success that I’m proud of is my relationships. I have an amazing relationship with my long time boyfriend, a strong bond with my incredible superhero brother; very close ties with my wonderful mom and an unbreakable connection with my grandpa; as well as family love for my best friends. I think relationships are often very hard and telling people how important they are to you can easily get lost in life so I’m really proud of the close ties I’ve built with my loved ones.

My over all goal for my life & career is…
to be able to make a life full of abundance and adventure by doing what I love & that’s making music

3 Ways that I challenge myself and how each one moves me forward towards my goal.

1) I challenge myself to think bigger thoughts (thoughts become things) and believe in them more than ever

2) I challenge myself to play instruments though that isn’t something I’ve always done to be better as a musician & songwriter

3) I challenge myself to engage with my online GENIES more becuase without them there is no business of music :0)

I’ve always been a singer…
My mom is an amazing singer so she taught me since I could talk how to sing properly. I never escaped the lessons but I’m grateful for that now haha. I never imagined doing anything else, It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.

CACTUS…
is a song I wrote while visiting a friend in my hometown after not being back for a couple years. I just got out of the car and the crazy wind hit me in the face like it always does in the high desert and it just took me back in time to who I was when I lived there and all the growing up I did there and since I’d left. The song is about looking back and seeing all the good and bad stuff that happened while doing all your major growing and being grateful for it all. I grew up in a small town where there wasn’t much to do but I’m grateful for that and for everything that made me into the person I am today.

It was a bitter sweet moment writing it…
I wrote the verses as they are today in the song in my car after getting salad to bring to my friends house (the reason for the trip). It just kind of fell out of me. Something kinda funny and sad, when I got the final recording of it I was leaving for Nashville and I listened to the song a million times on the drive out to Nash and cried a bunch haha. Something about listening to the words I’d written about my appreciation for where I came from while moving on to my future was so ironic and made me a little homesick at first.

I have an EP coming out very soon…
that I’m working on and really excited about. Like CACTUS people can expect insightful and creative lyrics as well as catchy pop melodies. I always want to make people feel something, that is always the goal. Whether that is a good feeling that makes you wanna roll the windows down and love life, or if it’s a feeling that takes them back in time to different points in their life or a feeling of emotion and understanding. Nothing makes a person feel better when they are sad or mad or happy than hearing a song that says what they are feeling regardless of the initial emotion. I want to move people and I also want to entertain. I aim to make songs that are interesting enough that someone isn’t bored of them or sick of them after a day of binge listening but simple enough that they can groove along right away.

I live in Nashville, Tennessee…
enough said 😉 lol jk Its the capital of country music. Everywhere you go there is live music. It’s tough to escape if you try lol. I love playing at The Commodore Grille writer’s rounds because it’s an intimate setting and people genuinly usually come to hear great new songs and they are focused on that.

I love to…
play with my puppy Titan and hang out with my bf Santiago but they go everywhere with me it isn’t location based lol. I’m still pretty new to the city/country but I love watching writer rounds at unexpected places and hearing hit songwriters which is a common thing here. You’ll be a dive bar and a hit writer with 5 #1 hits will be there in a regular writer round playing their tunes. It’s such a cool thing about this place.
