Eric: feel like the music business is finally leaning in favor of the musicians.
A record deal now is not your only option to be successful when it comes to releasing music. You can truly create, release, and perform music on your own terms. It’s not easy to do, but that option is now there, and artist are being very creative with finding, funding, and making money off their music.
ProsRealizing how much we truly enjoy making, and playing music together,
and not taking that for granted, and understand the value in that.
ConsSince we all work, not having the time to make,
and play music together full time. Very frustrating to see our potential, but not able to pursue it full time.
Keep our objective simple,
and don’t put unrealistic expectations over our head. We will always have a goal of being full time working musicians, but what we value is writing and performing our music together, at any level.

As a keyboardist I feel it would be an amazing opportunity to grow as a musician. All of Herbie’s original music are some of my biggest inspirations.

his was the first electronic music I really sunk my teeth into. He combines many of my similar influences and I’d
really like to know more about his creative and technical processes.
RyanMusic’s literally been a part of my life
since before I was born. My mother use to play records to me with headphones when I was in her belly.
EricMy (cousin Lyle’s record collection and his impromptu music history lessons
and Cleveland soft rock radio, Soul Train and my cousins visiting from New York and showing me how to freestyle) rap.
XavierMy (parents got me a keyboard when I was 7. Been playing ever since.)
We had just released our first EP, Quie Pro Quo ,
and were experimenting with some new sounds and ideas. This track grew out of a rehearsal on December 5th (actually, the track’s original title). In retrospect, this particular rehearsal was a point of demarcation for the evolution in our sound… an evolution we feel is still in progress. Full Blown is a notsosubtle collection of influences that form one groove.
Our new album, Yo Mama Like It!,
is significant departure from our previous, more classic hip-hop jazz sound. We have brought a higher level of
sophistication to our arrangements, coupled with a much more in depth sound tapestry. We feel this new direction is more than a “growing close” of our styles, but an emergent sound… a totally new trajectory yet reminiscent of each our origins. We live in Morgantown, WV,
though each of us hail from different locals. Morgantown has a long tradition of supporting and nurturing local musical talent with a wide range of styles, traditions, and backgrounds. All of us collaborate with the diverse population of the local scene… from church to the punk bars to the coffee shops and the nightclubs.
