I live in Los Angeles…
As you know the scene is pretty hectic here. To me this is the best place to do music as a full time job. Because all forms of entertainment are here (tv, radio,film) theres always an opportunity to meet or work with someone. Because I live in L.A. and the competition is high it keeps me working hard. You never know whose listening or who your’e going to meet.
I feel like the business…
can be good if you know the ins and outs of the business. Some of the pros for me is that because I can do so much in the industry I’m always working . It’s also a good time to be indie because there are so many resources available to push your music. Some of the cons would be how close-minded and anti creative it can be. Because my music isn’t commercial pop music executives and radio people are hesitant. No one wants to focus on longevity music, they just want something quick that keeps people entertained for a moment.
Song name:The One ft. J Mills
This album is my first solo project under my own name…
Musically I come from a producer/session player background first so most of these songs were un finished songs I had just written in my studio. I wanted to make an album that shared all my musical abilities. I produced and played every instrument but the horns on this project. Most of the songs were written by me or co-wrote with the artist featured on them. This album has me not only singing backgrounds but also lead on a couple of tunes. If that wasn’t enough I mixed and mastered the entire album with my little brother( J Mills). This album is really special to me because I did every part of this project in my home studio. I never had to leave my home to work on anything. I named this album “The Recital” because with all the features I got the vibe of a bunch of artist at a school waiting to perform the piece they’ve been working on.
Music Genre: R N B/funk/hip hop
The song is about a guy who meets a girl for the first time and shortly realizes that she could be the “the one”. It’s the only songs that I’ve put out with my little brother (J Mills). The record has an vintage funk vibe with modern melodic vocals . I sang the whole song with my vocoder and it really came alive once I added J Mills on the second verse.

I think I would have to say Quincy Jones. He’s my all time favorite producer and I admire how he got where he did. Just talking about what he did with MJ’s “Off the wall” and “Thriller” would be enough.
