What defines “Success” to you..
In my opinion, if what you are doing fulfills you and does not negatively impact others, you are successful. As I see it, “success” and “achievement” should not be confused. Fulfillment for me has always come from pursuing my gifts and passions, and my achievements are just a result of that. So, “Success” to me is really the journey of following your dreams and your best chance to “achieve” is by fiercely doing so.
What piece of music advice forever changed your way of thinking..
I can‘t say that any piece of advice stands out to me. The day that I discovered that there is only one me, I started becoming more comfortable as an artist. There are so many amazingly talented people in the world and it is easy to say “I could never sing or play like that” or “there is no way that I could write that song”. However, each of us has a unique set of characteristics or talents that set us apart. I still have to remind myself of that when I go see other artists.
I live in…
Two places: 1. Grand Junction, Colorado. The music scene here is cyclic and the number of venues is always changing. There is not much of an original music scene, which is why I spend time in Austin. The town speaks for it’s self. The culture is bustling and original music and it is not just accepted, it is expected. Also, it is a hub for my particular genre (Americana).
