GETTING TO KNOW JIM LIBBY BAND
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio

The musical beginning…
Growing up in a musical family, playing instruments in high school bands and such and then went on to form my own bands and began songwriting.

My personal definition of success is…
to be happy and healthy. Everything else is a bonus.

My greatest success story…
Well, I am proud of where this band is as a band and the relationships we all have with eachother and that was acheived by having strong work ethic and having good leadership.

My overall personal and professional goal is…
to live a long, happy and healthy life and same for my children. My career goal is to get to a place with this band just like where Charlie Daniels and other outlaw country bands are at and to play at those big venues that they do and tour the world doing so.

I live on the south shore of Massachusetts…
and there is quite a big music scene here and there’s a lot of talent and great music coming out of this area. It is quite a thriving place for working musicians. I like to spend time with my family, practice with my band and work out.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Charlie Daniels because of his success and the way he operates his band since it is something very close to what I have envisioned for my own band.

Being current or trendy is not very important…
I think it is far more important to be original since trends come and go, but truly original music will always stand the test of time.

Our creation process…
First, I get an idea for a song that starts with a melody and chords on the guitar. Then, I put some lyrics to it, those lyrics begin to take on a meaning and that is the direction that the song goes in. Afterwards, I bring it to the band and get their input and it changes some more. Usually, around that point, the song is completely born, but after it is being played, it is always subject to change and especially live.

I challenge myself by…
setting a higher bar for my guitar playing and singing and by constantly trying to refine it to something better than it is right now. I am always aiming for something I am not capable of.

3 ways that help me move forward towards my goal…
1. Refining my performance, guitar playing and singing.
2. Trying to be healthy.
3. Trying to be stress free.

You can expect from us a new album…
We recorded it at the world reknown Black Bird Studios in Nashville TN, with grammy award winning producer David Hall and we had a great time. Full band went down to Nashville and stayed down there a few weeks and then a few individual trips and finished the record. I feel that these are the best songs  I have written to date on this record.

The music business is extremely competitive…
and it is not as much about the music as it should be. So, understanding this is the first key to sucess and how we fix this is through the use of network and by trying to make contacts as best as you can.

Our marketing strategy is…
to try to connect with as many radio promotions and media marketing people in the business as possible and then decide which one our money will be most well spent with.
