I think the music business is challenging and can be a hard place to establish yourself as an artist. I think it is easier now as an independent artist to gain recognition and success, with streaming and social media. Regardless of the challenges I am enjoying every minute of it. I think the music business is challenging
and can be a hard place to establish yourself as an artist. I think it is easier now as an independent artist to gain recognition and success, with streaming and social media. Regardless of the challenges I am enjoying every minute of it. As they say nothing in life that is worth doing is ever easy.

Early on when I was younger
I had a lot of people in the music industry telling me that I had a brilliant voice but I wasn’t what they were looking for and for many people that would be enough to make you hang it up, but not me I keep plugging away until my time comes. I love what I do and I will continue doing it regardless of recognition or not. I would prefer to deliver a product that people can relate to and enjoy rather than music that just makes me happy, as I love sharing with others and getting involved in their lives and experiences. I approach every hurdle the same. If you can’t go over it and you can’t go under it then you have to go through it. When there is a will there is always a way.

When trying to get fans
for my music and getting my music out to people who might be interested in listening, I was happy to release singles and then when I realized that I was building a fan base and that people were interested in what I had to give I was happy to release an album and start touring and performing live.

I was not a big social media contributor up until a few years ago.
I got on Facebook to catch up with friends and what was happening in their lives. Now I am on twitter and I tweet everyday, I love Facebook for communicating with friends, family and now fans and Instagram so I can share the experiences of their lives.

Reba McEntire.
I would love to talk about her life, career and how she has handled both tragedy and obstacles within her life. To me she always seems so positive and is a survivor and these are just two of the things I love most about her apart from her music.

I have never really been one to follow the trends.
I think music touches people’s souls and so if I am touched by a song then others will be too. It may not appeal to everyone, but that is what makes us all unique. I believe that a great song is timeless and carries no trend. You have to go with what you are passionate about and your world will either love you or hate you, but if you are being true to yourself then people will always see that and respect you for it.

My favorite music quote or inspirational quote is…
Life is not about finding yourself, life is about creating yourself and being able to live with your creation. – (unknown)

Only as high as I reach can I grow, Only as far as I see can I go, Only as deep as I look can I see, Only as much as I dream can I be. (Unknown)

I got my start singing
at friends weddings, funerals (unfortunately) and at local festivals and events.

But That Was Yesterday

But That Was Yesterday was written by singer/ songwriter/ producer Steve Lowry.
I was recording a Christmas album for charity in Steve’s recording studio when he happened to walk in. He heard me sing and stopped and chatted for a while. He said he had a song that he would like me to do a demo of and so I did the demo. That song happened to be But That Was Yesterday. He liked it so much that we released it and the rest is history as they say.

Steve wrote the song about a past relationship,
where no matter how hard you try to make it work, it fails, then you reflect on what could have been.

My upcoming album is personal
in so many of the stories that the songs tell as well as showing my versatility with the country genre. The album is special because it has a unique blend of music, I think it sounds more like a greatest hits album so there is something that appeals to everyone. I want people to feel connected to the music, the lyrics and me as an artist. I want people to feel as though they get to know me a little through the music and feel as though they want to be apart of the journey.

I live in a country town in Victoria Australia.
The music scene is quite good here. There is a lot of encouragement for up coming artists, with local music festivals, and public events for people to get involved in and some of the café’s restaurants and pubs have live music.

One fun thing
that I like to do is watch RomCom movies or dramas on TV with friends and family.
