“This song is about the war we (the supposed “Great Satan”) are facing against the radical jihadists around the world, from a soldier’s point of view. His mission is simple. To kill and destroy the enemy without mercy, in the name of peace and democracy for the free world!” – @RapidAlloy

Interviewing Mark Conrad

Social Media is great to expose my music to a much broader group…
of people around the world that wouldn’t be possible before the internet. I can’t say I’ve had any challenges I’ve had to overcome through social media, but from the music I write and record, sometimes I need to step away from it all. It can be quite consuming and overwhelming at times.

If I was a signed act…
I’d be interested in releasing singles for movies etc. as well as full albums. I write more than just “Metal” and it could be a good way to show a different side of myself and my music.

I would like 5 minutes alone with Metallica!!!…
They’ve been my Metal Gods since I was 12 and It would mean the world to me to know that they know I exist haha! I’d also beg them to cover my song “Predator” off my new “Hail Mary” album. It’s a cross between Metallica’s “Whiplash” and Motorhead’s “Ace Of Spades”

Do Music trends influence you…
Yes, and I don’t follow the trends. I stick to the bands and music I love, but I get it. Trends come and go, just like us. Here today, gone tomorrow!

The Music Business is a tough business to get into…
Hopefully lady luck will be on my side this year. I’ve worked so hard to get to where I am today musically, but I’m still waiting for that big break!

I am most afraid of…
DEATH!!! Even worse.. a horrible painful death lol!

I am focus…
Accomplishing the goals one set out for himself.

I am most proud of…
Being nominated for an East Coast Music Award.

Getting my song “To Fight War With War” …
which is an anthem for peace, on the Canadian Forces special radio station in Kandahar Afghanistan. The song leaves the question, should we fight war with war? Unfortunately with all the injustice and inhumanity in the world today and people fighting for their very existence, sometimes we have no choice but to fight war with war!

Most important thing for success.. To be determined…

3 Things that keep us moving forward…
sex, drugs and rock n roll! Isn’t that what a Rock Star is all about!

My older brother Chris introduced me to…
Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Kiss, to name a few, at a very young age. (8 yrs. old) Then once I heard Metallica “Ride The Lightning” in 84, I bought “Metallica “Kill Em’ All” a week later, and wanted to be a rock star ever since! My father bought me my 1st guitar for Christmas when I was 15. I taught myself how to play, trying to emulate the bands I loved growing up with.

Everything You Wished Not To Be…
This song is about the war we (the supposed “Great Satan”) are facing against the radical jihadists around the world, from a soldier’s point of view. His mission is simple. To kill and destroy the enemy without mercy, in the name of peace and democracy for the free world! On the album I played rhythm guitar, bass, drums, and vocals. I wrote it all and co-produced it with Darren Van NieKirk. It was recorded at the Sonic Temple Recording Studio in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. This album was nominated for the “Loud Award” at the 2014 East Coast Music Awards and has had radio play on satellite radio stations around the world. During the process of this recording there had been many great moments in the studio. For example.. when one of the violinists on the album, who also has a bachelor’s degree in piano played this piece for the song “Time Of Your Life” on an old Hammond organ through a Leslie cab blasting in the studio, something came over him that I felt as well and he was quite moved to say the least by what he had just played. It was almost like magic that night and we knew that we were on to something big! That piece is my homage to the great Jon Lord from Deep Purple.

This album is…
heavy on many different levels and is my offering to my Metal Gods! I hope to get discovered and tour the world with one or more of these great bands! I believe the music will speak for itself. It needs to get out there and be heard. Let the masses decide it’s fate!

I was born and live in the beautiful city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada…
on the Atlantic Coast. The Summer is the best time to come here with all of the beautiful beaches, and the action of the city, the tourists visiting, the great restaurants, bars and attractions. There is so much incredible talent and such a diverse variety of music here. It’s quite a unique place and I’m glad to call Halifax my home.
