The music industry has evolved…
however the ground game remains the same. The “net” has created greater access between artiste and music lovers, but the dominance of the music conglomerates remains. Musical cross-pollination has lead to greater musical diversity.

Being an indie artist has meant challenges…
but because I have a vast and loyal fan base, as well as a great management team, all challenges to date have been met and over come. These challenges created opportunity for growth, reflection and greater efficiency as a company, artist and team. We have had to become creative and experimental in our business practice. Indie artiste have greater flexibility and artistic creativity, but less cash can slow the process of seeding the ears with your brand of music. I have no real complaints, my creative freedom has always been paramount. Most important Pure Love is getting pure love globally 🙂

Both forms are important. I have had two full-length studio albums, Transitions and Stories From I Father’s Country. I have also released many singles. I think both forms are relevant, occasional singles reinforce your market presence. I must state, that marketing a single can be less expensive, faster and allows for great flexibility. Albums necessitate greater, forward planning and expense.

Social media…
has leveled the playing field, the direct access has meant, that persons interested in your “type” of music can actively look for you. If your “footprint” online is large enough, then it’s easier to find you. Also, direct marketing is easier, we can search for our market, fans, etc. and market directly to them. We can sell our music, book our gigs, do our own promotion and create direct links to other artiste, promoters, producers, which can lead to musical cross-pollination.

My Father who transitioned ten years ago…
He along with my mom, inspired me more than any other persons. My dad taught me what being a man truly is, he taught me the importance of giving back to the community, using your influence to positively impact your environment and the world around you. I love and miss him, so I would love to have five (5) more minutes alone with him.

I have never been concerned with trends…
I believe the artiste must be true to self. Audiences can sense insincerity, so to connect any artist must represent their true artistic integrity. My experience has taught me that striving for perfection within your chosen genre or at the very least , presenting your best as the artiste, person and product leads to fan loyalty, a growing market presence and above all personal gratification.

I would love to spend 5 minutes alone with…
Muhammad Ali: “I know where I’m going and I know the truth, and I don’t have to be what you want me to be. I’m free to be what I want.”

I started singing in church…
at the tender age of four (4). While in high school, my friends and I started a band called Natural Mystics, inspired by Bob Marley and the Wailers, but my other inspiration was I thought it would be a great way to meet girls lol

Pure Love…
is about pure love, Love, that is unfiltered. It is a unique bond between living creatures, where we are willing to sacrifice our very existence in service of love. A parent’s undying love for their child, Pure Love is love without limits. I wanted to create a feel-good song that reflects my own love for my ten (10) year old and her amazing mom and a track that spoke of love in it’s many incarnations between beings.

While on a three-month tour in Germany…
I started to miss my daughter and her mom. Her mom was still pregnant with her. I was approached by BornFree to do some recording. So in Germany, on a cold day, I wrote, co-produced and sang this amazing song about my daughter and her mom. Earlier, this year my daughter turned ten (10) years old. I had not released a track for awhile so, with the prompting of Team Peter Lloyd, I opted to release the track in celebration of her tenth birthday. We changed the track itself, adding sweet guitar licks and removing most of the original instrumentation, re-mixing and re-mastering. Essentially, re-producing the track. The rest is history. My team uploaded the track to Soundcloud and it has gone viral. Pure Love is everywhere, and spreading. We all need some #purelove 🙂

My fans across the world lovingly refer to me as…
The Love Messenger, this in essence is what my music is about. Spreading the message of love, feel-good music, that stimulates us, challenging our perception of self and our humanity. My music, with simple melodies, hooks, and concepts, that are less cerebral and more mundane, allows for us to see ourselves reflected in it and hopes to inspire us to be better persons. As stated, I want the world to sing “I feel. good, good, good, good , yeah…” 🙂

I am Jamaican…
and live in Jamaica, the home of reggae and dancehall. The live music scene is vibrant in Jamaica. As the originators of reggae, dancehall, we are very into music. There are numerous street dances, clubs and live events across Jamaica. I love watching cartoons. I will binge watch Dragon Ball Z, Spiderman and any thing with Batman lol. I also try to do yoga daily. I am fascinated by it, but I am no expert. However, my greatest pleasure is hanging out with my 10 year old daughter trying to score “cool dad” points lol.
