GETTING TO KNOW Arthur Long Jr.
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
Arthur Long Jr. is the artist, composer and producer.
I feel the music business in this day has given especially independent artists more opportunities to be heard and seen. You can get instant feedback on your material at the very least to let you know if you’re on track. There have been some negatives in my past regarding the music industry, but I prefer to dwell on the present and future.
If I had five minutes alone with Mr. George Benson…
I’d love to talk with him about music and how he’s had songs for almost 40 years! A lot of them hits too! His guitar playing has always inspired me. I first saw him perform at age 14 at our Minnesota State Fair! He is still playing at a high level as well!
is the name of the song. I love jazz mixed with a little funk and am always trying to blend the two! Thus the name “Smoove”: something smooth with a groove!
You can expect the album to follow a similar pattern throughout, songs that you can chillax to, bop you head to, get up and dance to, or wish you were at the club listening to! My EP titled “ The Groove Lounge” ( Part 1) gives you a taste of what’s to come in the future. I’m giving people a chance to hear non-complicated instrumental songs that they could listen to anywhere, anytime! It is special to me because I wrote, produced and performed the entire EP and it had been awhile since I’ve been able to record.

Currently I live in a suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Dakota Bar and Jazz Club is where I like to go hear and see artists perform the best! They have a real intimate setting, the acoustics are great and they consistently have the best local and national artist perform there! Along with First Avenue, (the place Prince made famous) both of these places continue to contribute to the vibrant music scene here in Minneapolis.
