The music business…
has been one exciting ride so far — kinda like a roller coaster. My favorite part has been all the great folks I’ve been able to meet along the way, from fellow musicians to folks at radio, people behind the scenes who make music happen, to all the incredible people who I’ve had the chance to meet and love on at shows and through social media. When I think about the fact that I get to do this every single day, I feel like the luckiest gal in the world.

Inspired by…
This is a hard question because I have a super long list of heroes who I admire for different reasons. Taylor Swift is amazing with how she loves on her people and gives back to her fans. Faith Hill is a huge reason I started singing — I used to sit on the floor in my bedroom with a boombox my parents got me for my birthday and I’d listen to her record over and over, just memorizing how she sang every word. My all-time favorite singer is Elvis. It’d be so neat to hang out with him and just hear some of his stories, and, obviously have him serenade me with Can’t Help Falling in Love With You! Hopefully one day I’ll be meeting him upstairs and get to be amazed by him. He sure was one talented guy and such an icon.

I Dare You…
I grew up in a small town in Kentucky where the county fair is huge and I have so many memories from a being a little girl all the way up through the years at the county fair…summer love is one of those things you find at the fair. I guess there’s just something about the summer air and the lights and rides that seem to make it easy to fall in love there. I wrote this song with my dear friend Katrina Burgoyne and whenever I’d play the song out, folks in the audience would be singing along by the last chorus.

I knew we had something special and that we needed to go into the studio. I recorded the song at my friend Larry Beaird’s studio in Nashville. He’s a great guy with some awesome musicians and I love the sound we created in the studio. Such a magical experience.

New Music…
I am so excited about the new music we are releasing this year. I’ve been doing a lot of writing and recording with some super talented friends in Nashville and I can’t wait to share these songs with everyone…. there’s a mix of emotions and chapters that you find in love throughout the songs, from the excitement of young summer love in I Dare You all the way to gut-wrenching angst in Midnight Cigarette. I drew from pieces of my own life along with stories I’ve heard off stage to write these songs in a really honest and raw way. I feel like they’re songs that folks are going to relate to, whether it be just jamming to some of the songs to listening and feeling like that song is completely about them.

Kentucky…
I’m originally from a small town in Kentucky where I cut my teeth in singing at country music shows and jamborees. I first got into singing at church and school events, and that grew to local fairs and festivals. The folks in Kentucky have hearts of gold and I am so proud to be from Kentucky. No matter where I go, the Bluegrass State will always have my heart.
