GETTING TO KNOW SEAN FAUST
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
I’ve always been about being honest and real with my writing…
I’m not trying to fit into any clique or follow the “rules of genre”. If I feel it and it sounds good I’m going to go with it.
I’ve currently begun writing and recording my next release and hoping to have it out by Christmas time. However, if it takes longer, I’m fine with that. I’m staying in the same direction I’ve been in as a singer-songwriter but subtly bringing back the progressive rock element that’s always been a part of me.
Signal…
It’s very common for us to not want things to end, whether it be a relationship, a really good book, a place where like minds commune, or a television show. There’s always some kind of message in everything that touches us as human beings.
The bottom line is… It’ll be real. It’ll be honest. It’ll be personal.
The whole music business is full of pros and cons…
What’s most important is staying focused on the positive at all times and not letting the cons (when starting out there are a lot more of them than there are pros) get to you!
Social media …
seems to be a necessary evil. There are still trends that people lean towards but it’s also great to find those individuals looking for something different and unique. I’ll take something that will last a lifetime over a trend any time! I’ve been very lucky to meet people around the world and connect with them through the love of all things music!
I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Michael J. Fox. Talk about a guy who knows how to overcome an obstacle and not only stay positive about it but also use his celebrity status to help others! He is most certainly somebody to look up to! Although I have never had the honor of meeting him he is definitely one of my favorite people.
I’ve always walked the beaten path. …
It’s just not in my DNA to be something I’m not. Trendy is something I can just never be. I like what I like and write what I write.
I’ve tried to write “current” stuff for the hell of it but I’m never happy as I don’t like most pop lyrics these days and it reflected in that writing of mine.
I write about things that are real to me…
and to anybody else who looks inward instead of at the surface. I try not to be limited by genre and what a song is “supposed” to sound like.
A good song is a good song. Just let it be and it will!
My favorite music quote or inspirational quote is…
“How you spend your day is how you spend your life.”
I just heard that one recently and it just made perfect sense. Life happens once. It’s a reality. Sitting indoors all day or working a job you hate just to get by seems like a waste, doesn’t it?
I’m a geek and I love the movie Serenity. In a nutshell this song is summing up that even though the television show (Firefly) that it was based on is done and the movie is over, there are still people out there discovering the fun and wonder of both the show and the film. The signal goes on.
This one took forever for me to finish…
I had most of the music and some of the lyrics for about a year or two before she called to me again and said, “Hey! I’m here! Let’s work this out!”
When I sat down with my notebook and my guitar (and a pen, of course 🙂 ), “Signal” was done within half an hour. She wanted to take her time and not be rushed, but when she was ready to be finished a wonderful song came out of her.
