Episode #517: A.V.A Live Radio Behind The Music with Jacqueline Jax : http://tobtr.com/10255847
Interview by Jacqueline Jax
host of A.V.A Live Radio
What defines “Success” to you?
Success isn’t fame and fortune (although that’s nice too.) Success is doing what you love every day, and getting knocked down, and getting up and doing it again anyway. You have to define your own success and not let what other people think it should be define you. If personal success to you is playing a coffee shop 5 nights a week then you’ve made it, you are successful. If it’s selling out arenas and you aren’t there yet, but you are working towards that goal and adapting your game plan to get there, then you are successful. When you define you’re own success and reach that goal then you are by your own definition, successful!
What have been your hurdles…
There are always road blocks but our attitude keeps the road pretty clear. We are working musicians and focus on gigs and making music that moves us no matter what genre.
What piece of music advice forever changed your way of thinking?
Play for yourself, because you will never be able to please everyone. Oh, and practice, practice, practice. When you think you’ve practiced enough, practice again because you can never be too good at what you do, even if you really love it.
