so that much youth don’t have to die before their time.
and in the streets, now my ”Whip It’ song is #1 in the Top 20 section on DJ’s Virdiko distribution site. Here the link: http://virdiko.com/hot-tracks
where I was also born. The music scene there is crazy fun, here they party from dust till dawn. The fun thing I like to do is make new music and watching people dancing to it in the clubs.
mostly because an indie artist cam release their music when time they want because of the internet.
these people that tries to get an up-coming artist to give them money for this and that, but really don’t do anything for the artist career. And when someone buys my music and says they want me to come and perform in their towns.
with patience and taking it one day at a time.
I like that we can go viral real fast. I also found out the hard work with dedication helps me get over the challenges.
it helps builds up the momentum for my album before i release it and consistency makes a lot of difference in my marketing strategy.
Nicky Minaj, because she started from the bottom with hard work she’s on top of the game with being the number one female rapper now. I admire her too because all most all her songs becomes hits.
Yes I see everybody trying to be trendy, that’s why all these new artist sounds alike. I do my work like their ain’t no box to work in.
losing my siblings and friends, because i lost 3 of my siblings none of them passed the age of 22, my brother Melik got killed when he was only 18, my sister Shari got killed when she was only 21, and my brother Keyshawn was robbed and killed when he was 22 years old.
i think is one kind of success. Just the other day my hit song ”Whip It” got an award for ”Best Rap Song” i was very happy getting that award and i felt proud hearing my song Whip It playing in the clubs.
to make good music to soothe the souls of everyone that hears them. also that my music will live on for ever because of my music stands for and the joy it give people, and some of the money I will make from my music i will use to help the poor with food and shelter etc.
making all my music better than the last one, that’s my goal when it comes to the production of my music.
My sister ”Silk” was an up coming rapper…
and she and I started watching DMX videos on the TV and she saw that i liked rapping from the age of 3 years old so she started teaching me how to rap. When our dad saw that I liked rapping he started a Hip-Hop group call ”The 3 Angels” with my 2 brothers Keyshawn S.I.P., Akeem and me, I was 5 years old at the time, and thats when i got my start on rapping from.
this song is about seeing people in lots of wants and needs in my hood, its seeing kids going to sleep hungry all over the world. I have seen my mom’s and pop’s out off a job and they can’t buy me a new coat in the winter and my last year coat got short and too tight for me. Stuff like that made me write my ”Don’t Give Up” song.
