Music Trends and the music you create…
When you create things…..you become unique…….always keep to that first…..a true artist.

I am most afraid of…
the dollar one day falling……..and people not being ready to cope.

My personal definition of success is..
I have written over 3 albums and have 30 original quotes…….some could really change your life. I really proud of them all and they all flowed from the life I was living….

My over all goal for my life & career is…
Keep going…more to do.

3 Ways that I challenge myself and how each one moves me forward towards my goal.

1) Don’t be too hard on yourself. No one is perfect……just try to do something good.

2) Be an artist…..there is some reason we create.

3) Don’t give up……..there is always another corner around the bend.
I started out as a ragtime piano player…
and my dad played all the rock songs. I just wanted to tell a story that people would remember. My neighbor next door could play drums perfect to all the Boston songs. I heard them all night long. The local marching band at the high school played all the Doors songs and they rocked.

White Horse Rider…
I’m sure everyone has seen that picture of George Washington sitting on a white horse. It just reminded me of something like should we not be promoting fear on the media all the time and is it necessary to go off and fight every war. What about the soldiers and the price they paid? It just seems to me people have lost track of that figure and what it was about…WWII and everything. I used to see veterans marching all the time in the parades when I grew up. My dad said history will repeat itself and every dynasty must sooner or later fall…………it was just a hard realization for me to face……you know I don’t give up that easy. I still see that horse and the fire…………….

Kevin Branigan and Rex Carroll did the guitar tracks. Now, these guys can really play so we had to blend them together……….hence the sound you hear. When was the last time we heard dueling guitars on the radio….I think things are better when it more natural……..let things happen.

phil-mitchellThe Music…
One listener said……when you hear these songs…..they just grab you. You can’t just sit there and listen………and that’s my purpose of this album…..I think it’s time to wake up………I mean its our future. It’s not enough to just talk about things……then there is just something about getting people together in a bus or going down the river in boat with friends……..experiencing life.

Chicago…
Great town for all types of music. I like to climb mountains…….love the view……..live a dream.

Music business…
It’s too commercial…….Where are the stories? Johnny Cash? What happened to the old days of recording live music? I like to create………do that first……then perform. Have a story unique to you.

Social media…
There are some great things out there on social media. Facebook and Soundcloud.

Singles vs an album…
I like an album…….you really got to listen to the whole story…..I mean crossroad is full of tension….anxiety…what people are feeling these days. Then you put the children and future first. It’s the whole story. One song can’t do that.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Kevin Costner……….he’s not afraid to take chances…… tell his story. Great soundtrack too.

Bio:
“Crossroads” is Phil Mitchell’s third album. From the opening rock symphony to the dualing guitars, this album is unique…. The second track reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel, putting the spotlight on the future of the youth. The fitth track shows a Doors influence. The sixth track has a strong political message. There is a rock balad, early country number, and a hip hop dance piece that features a ragtime piano. All the songs connect in a thread about our times. The last number may be my favorite, as the piano classical piece offers a reflection of “hope”……and maybe that’s what we need most…. This is more than an album, it is a journey. Good album for cruising or your next road trip.
