I am excited about the progression for artist over the years
in being able to be a career artist with visibility that suits your goals/brands. I am extremely new to it all but I’m finding that creating your own lane is not just a TV network motto buy a true reality in who you want to bras artist. Building trust in any business field is risky and difficult and vultures are ever present, still opportunity is imminent. As I’m learning, my eyes are wide open but I’m still down to count the cost and jump @diamoneu

As I’m learning, my eyes are wide open but I’m still down to count the cost and jump.

Thus far my greatest hurdles have been my own view of success and gifting.
It’s easy to see obstacles where it can be shifted to opportunities. My stage of life and how it affects my speed/pace to reach goals is now being seen as a opportunity. I have the opportunity to be me as I love and grow with my family. Hopefully they will see it as inspiration to do the same.

I am so excited to share my art with others
and to really meet the ultimate goal of making the space in between meaningful. As I’m learning, I feel like releasing a single gives me space to really create and endorse my brand as an up and coming artist and to wet the appetite of current listeners as I draw new ones. I do look forward releasing a full project to present the art in complete context of full project BUT the beautiful thing is I can do both and reach multiple goals.

Social media really allows me to live life
and connect with it in a very authentic way. My brand is to engage life and find its beauty between the moments we must have. Social media allows me to connect naturally and still build my brand. I also find social media gives a pulse on culture that you had to dig for over longer spans of time. My role as artist is couple with my day to day or being mom, wife, teacher, etc. I’m connected to listeners where I am, where they are and where the world is.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with Taraji P. Jensen and Paulette Washington.
Both women create their own lane and have weight to their offstage life in light of their onstage/onscreen/limelight life that I would love to see from a different vantage point. There are so many artists I respect and would love to connect with, still these two have interesting ways of living life, loving their art and loving the art of their lives.

The struggle of being trendy is one I think all artists struggle with.
When the new is the old and you choose to reinvent you become antiquated or vice versa. I find that I never want to be surprised by tends but not ruled by them for anchoring who my art is or who I am. I want my music to speak in any era it needs to the way it needs to, and it will! I don’t plan to stop growing so there will always be something that returns as new or stays and becomes old; I just want me to trend now and be classic enough for later.

My favorite music quote or inspirational quote is…
“Artists are people driven between the tension between the desire to communicate and the desire to hide.” DW Winnicott
“Truth blooms under cloudy skies because it can always find the sun” -Anonymous

“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about
these things.” Philippians 4:8

Listening to music was an escape for me at a very young age.
I first escaped from everyday life through music full of lyrics that talked about life and it’s meaning, then I found myself actually engaging life through it. I loved how poetry or full fledged stories could have so much color and even animation through melodies working together to make a picture or description of something bigger than the moment- or even the words it contained. I found I could speak and understand the language of music better than my native tongue. It just spoke life and allowed me to learn how to speak about what I see and believe.

“Colors”

Colors really fell in my lap.
I am married to my best friend and the most amazing man on the planet. He is human to the core but exactly who I need. I think I was just reflecting on how weird I had been all week-feeling invincible one day and insignificant the next. I jus needed to know that after a decade of love and friendship if he could and would take all these colors of me. I knew the answer was yes, but I still needed to ask. So I wrote honestly from my need to hear him say yes again. I wrote for my friends who need to hear yes from their loved ones for struggles with insecurities, depression, children with physical disabilities or mental illnesses/struggles, PTSD, anxiety-and the list goes on… I think we all need to be ok with being ourselves and sometimes the most helpful thing is to hear a yes from those who love and support is in our lives. We need to hear that no mater what color we are for the day, that
the answer is yes.

As we were forming this song,
I really heard it smaller and more of a sad request. My brother played the guitar and I sang and scripted lyrics but he just kept hearing it bigger and bolder. It moved from an acoustic quiet plea to an ironic pop song bursting with life, as the lyrics asked for more life to be given. It such a blast to write and to see it transform through its own many colors.

No matter what you hear, I want my music to provide a space
for the moments that happen between then moments. I want to fill up that gap with poetry/art that let people process life and how to see it for what it is as they feel it without losing hope. In the grocery line, at the gas pump, in traffic, before a recleague championship, after a decanting call or convo,  I want my music to speak to that space and describe it and give it validity and then hope. Whether it’s tears with violas, energy with 808s or a story with Fender acoustic- I want people to feel free to feel and then believe.

I’m a Texan to the core who lives in the beautiful city of Miami, FL!
I have three energetic kids so the beach is our favorite scene. Hubby and I love date nights in the north side of our city for screen in the greens or Wynwood area downtown for arts or just darn good food. We are pretty chill and love being together and making our own adventures…after all it is Florida! My family loves learning about anything! Museums, gardens or tours are for us! Even if we just explore and create our own.
