GETTING TO KNOW EMILIE BONNET
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
Emilie Bonnet
I feel neglected by the media in France and live of my music
is increasingly difficult. In radios and televisions they put a lot of new singers who did “The voice” and they don’t even listen what you do. I suffer a lot and that’s why I decided to try my luck elsewhere because I know that I have many things to say and my voice is special.
I worked with Eddie Barclay.
I worked also with J.J Goldman who has written for Céline Dion. The producer of Pink Floyd wanted to make with me, an international career but as I wrote in my book, I listened my art director that I considered as my adoptive mother. She kept me from going abroad and I should have never mix love and work. I blindly listened to my sorrow.
Often most singers coming out albums,
wrote one or a couple of beautiful songs and the rest (the other songs) was filler. In this case it is better to sale a single because the albums are expensive. Me, I spent several years composing to have only great songs. And I would prefer that people can have the opportunity to enjoy the full album. It’s easier for the media to defend only one song while talking of the album.
There are several radio stations that can help us.
There are people who listen to our music and watch our clips. We became friends but often encountered virtually honorable people. This allowed me to meet you and it adds a great hope in my heart. For example, you will help me to say loudly and clearly that be must stop homophobia. This song is also for all people who are mistreated by monsters like to Orlando.
Sometimes I like what is trendy and modern but in my music and my lyrics,
I try while stating modern to fight evil. I want to denounce what should not exist, that is men and sometimes women who abuse the most fragile and sometimes kill (different and disabled people, children too, animals…) and all that revolt me. They are crazy and I hate them.
I fight for so many years! And I continue to fight.
I left behind me all the people who have hurt me and I say that there is no age to my music to be finally recognized. I hope from the bottom of my heart, progressive outlooks. And finally, I want to shoot to the world that I have a lot of love to give and I want them to hear me through my music. I want to give them everything I missed. With your help, I know I will get there.
I saw a little difficult in my head because most people in France are pretentious,
especially in record labels, some radios and televisions. I came there a few years in Chanhassen to Minneapolis for see a friend and it was wonderful. People greeted me without knowing me and I love because I have myself this temperament. A friend of mine who lived in New York has given my album French in a radio but unfortunately now my friend has disappeared.
I would like meet Bruce Springsteen because I find myself a bit through him,
for his social struggles, the kindness he has for the people, the passion of the motorcycle, his voice, his songs, his energy.
My album “The other side” is on legal platforms”
I sing since I was little.
Then, I started high school in boarding school and the night, I climbed the school gate to go sing in a club that belonged to a friend when all guests were gone. One night, a man that I have not seen, took me in his arms, giving me a big kiss on my cheek and said to me: “With the voice you have, you should go to Paris”. He was the actor Alain Delon. And I signed my first contract with Barclay.
“To damn any man”. My aunt was working in the famous Parisian club “Chez Michou”
and that’s I met a boy who was in the drag show. We became friends and one day, he called me and I found him with a swollen face. He has beaten by thugs. So, I decided to white “To damn any man”
We made a music video that is posted on youtube.
The shoot was a bit difficult because, getting into the head of people who have suffered abuse is very hard mentally.
In this album, I wanted also defend the right of women
who are beaten by men. With a song called “An angel cries”. I also composed “Tell them” in duo with a woman and it is superb. “Touching the sky” is for the people crying their despair because they don’t want die. They will not leave the people they love. “I burn again” which speaks of the suffering of losing a loved one. “The yell of the screws” that talks about the confinement of women in prisons. “On a birth certificate” that’s speaks of me because I was abandoned by my parents at birth. And I also wrote a book “Let’s light” in which I also say that only animals have never hurt me and I defend them against of human cruelty. And others songs more joyful.
I lived in a small village near Aix en Provence.
It is in the south of France. There is a casino where we can sing, as the clubs and every year there is the music festival. It is a student city where I did all my studies. There are beautiful fountains and the city is beautiful.
