ViaMiztro Album Cover copy

Music Business..
Miztro: “The corporate takeover is trying to change our canvas. That’s the platform that the music now lays on. So if you have someone whack who is in control, your going to have whack results in return…period!” “I was signed to an independent label that went no where. It helped me out just because I was in the music scene and received some exposure. I eventually stepped out on my own and found more success. I setup my own performances, showcases etc.”

Via: “In the music industry I feel that some of the pros are the cons.
Yes it may be good to sign a to a record label but then you sign away most of your rights or publishing rights. It may be good to be independent but you will work twice as hard and may not come into “success” as soon or at all for that matter. I’ve removed a lot of deadweight and it not only helped me. It made me stronger!! Perseverance!!” @via_miztro

Music Business..
Miztro: “The corporate takeover is trying to change our canvas. That’s the platform that the music now lays on. Albums vs Singles…

Miztro: “An album is the real deal, its official!
It’s 100% you. A single only shows one emotion. You get a different canvas with an album.

Via: “I agree with my brother.
A single is only a fraction of what you can do. When you create an album your telling the world, “I’m here with my 3 course meal”! lol!!”

Social Media…
Miztro: “What I like about social media is that you can connect with people all over the world.

Via: “I can learn more about my musical heritage and my African ancestors.

ViaMiztro: “it gives us a bigger fan base and makes things a little easier to access.

I wish I could have 5 minutes alone with…

Miztro: “My grandmother. I want to hear her voice again.
She taught me value and was a very clean lady. I always admired her routine and her go getter spirit. She was always on the move and operated on a very strategic level. She’s one of the reasons why i’m structured the way I am today.”

Via: “Sandra Bland – her story was the spark within me.
I’ve watched videos of her and how she always addressed us, as ‘Kings and Queens”. It brought me back to the Emmit Till or Trayvon Martin story. It was a wake up call.”

Music Trends…
ViaMiztro: “We don’t worry about being trendy, we just concentrated on what was needed and staying true to ourselves. We created our own independent lane.”

Favorite Quotes:
Via – (Erykah Badu): “If we were made in His image then call us by our names. Most intellectuals do not believe in God but they fear us just the same.”

Miztro: “(Mahatma Gandhi) – ‘learn today like you will live forever and live today like you will die tomorrow”

Miztro: “I used to write stories while sitting in class.
I developed more of my writing skills by creating stories from the game Killer Instinct, that I used to play with a few friends from the neighborhood. I took the characters actions and added a little twist and didn’t look back!! lolol!!”

Via: “I was at a friends birthday party and I saw them freestyling
over to the side by themselves and I thought to myself…” oh thats dope”! At that time the song “successful” by Trey Songz and Drake was popular. So as soon as I got home I wrote a song to that beat. I was also into poetry so I just combined the two and Here I am!! lolol!!”

99th Floor

Miztro: “The song 99th floor came from the idea of The Sears Tower
or b.k.a. The Willis Tower. Where we plan to shoot the video. The video was planned to be completed earlier this year but was delayed until Fall of 2016. The significance of the track was to mainly focused on uplifting our women and not to tear them down. Respect the child bearing individual.”

Via: “Miztro originally gave me the concept and I ran with it from there.
We just wanted to produce a really classy, sexy and respectful track. We want men & women to hold each other up to a higher standard. Men nor women don’t have to do the most to get recognition!”

No. The biggest thing is just trying to film this video properly. lolbvs!!

ViaMiztro: “Our music is for the conscious minded. We want to enlighten and uplift our people.
Our album was made to show that you can make music w/o talking about drugs, sex, money or flashy things period. We challenged music, which is what many artist are afraid to do nowadays. You have to think about the children. Hip Hop can assist in the change our people need. We strive to beat “the system”, by showing love and unity to all. Show economic power and setting an example.”

ViaMiztro: “We live in Chicago, IL.
The music scene is waaaayyyy left field! lol! Gang banging, violence, it seems as if that Alcapone image has never left….” A few places to hit up for good music is Refuge Live!, the Kleo Center or The Funky Buddha Lounge Via. I like to visit the music scene for fun. Local spots, other indie artist venues.

Miztro

When I’m not working on music, I like to…
Miztro: “I like to read and spend time with my family.

Via: “I feel like we need to save it for our children. If we continue to let it slide it will eventually become hard for it to recover and used for the purpose it was to serve.”
