Music business…
How I see the music industry today, is that in a lot of ways it is dying, however in many ways it’s being reborn. In other words, like always, it is a changing business that must be adapted to. The way people are creating and distributing their music has changed drastically in the last ten, even five years. Today, there is really nothing stopping someone from reaching people if you know how to use your resources. Also if you take your work seriously enough as something you want to pursue, you have to realize that there is a lot more responsibility put on the artists end. It is not enough to just simply play an instrument or create good music. The artist today has to know how to maximize on available resources, be more business minded and adaptable if they want to succeed.

Social media…
I see how social media is revolutionary and in a lot of circumstances a must have in the modern world. However as much as I use it, I almost wish it never existed. Everything is on your phone now and I’m one of those people that likes to communicate face to face with no interruptions, hold the book I’m reading, hold the music I’m listening to whether it be vinyl or cd and not go to my phone for things that are authentic in those ways. I feel that as much as it has benefited society, it has made everything a lot more superficial and a little less human in my opinion.

Singles vs an album…
It all really depends on what you are trying to do. Releasing a single is a good way to let people know what kinds of sounds they could expect from your album. That being said, releasing a single is also a great way to put out a song that may not sit well with the album arrangement, however would do great as a stand alone piece of music.

It was around 10 years old when I first got into music…
It was at that time when I first started playing guitar and I started to see it as something I could pursue all my life. Around the age of 14 or 15, I really started digging deeper for influence, knowledge and any type of opportunity. I began playing at various venues with the house bands in the Toronto area. Also I began this jam group with my good friend Lucas Espinola, we were spreading the Funk anywhere we were able to make noise, that was our thing. Around 2 years ago I started diving into the world of music production, which is something that has become a passion like no other. I was amazed at the idea that anything is possible and that i could create landscapes of sound from the smallest of sources. There was this independent label that needed a mix engineer and I filled the position. Slowly I began mixing various genres of music for different artists, I would in a way practice on my skill when I was there, then I would come home or stay at the studio and create my own music with the skill I was and still crafting.

Wake Up…
is about coming to the realization of a situation, whatever that situation may be. A point in your life, the people around you, the things you consume, and how they effect your ego. Wake Up was made in my apartment and was written off of my friend Peter C’s bass line. It composed like most of my music, built off the last recorded sound with a few production tricks thrown in the mix.

When it comes to my music..
the one thing that you can expect is that it always comes from an authentic place musically, lyrically and emotionally. The one thing you can not expect from me is a routine or staying safe within a genre. The sounds that I make will always change depending on what I feel, think and where I’m at in my life. My music is meant to be heard however it may be perceived by the listener. By this I mean I want the listener to draw their own meanings and relations from what they hear. People to be able to relate to the same song at different times in their life. That’s kind of how I write a lot of material, I throw different scenes, thoughts and circumstances into the same song.

I am from Mississauga, Ontario…
When it comes to the music scene, I have always headed for downtown, Toronto. The music scene there is so vibrant and unique, a good city to be an artist in right now. I’ve always hit up the College and Spading area or Kensington market, Those places have always been my stomping grounds. A hobby of Mine is collecting vinyl and Toronto is a gold mine with vinyl stores in many different parts of the city that always seem to have what I am looking for. I am currently living London, Ontario for school purposes, The music scene here is really quite something to see, or hear in this case. People are always looking for local bands to watch and follow. You cant help but get the sense your really part of something here.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
It would be great to sit down for five minutes with George Clinton. The reason for this is because Clinton’s a genius. A man who has created a music empire that no other can compare itself to. George Clinton has not only inspired me through the music he has put out, the groups he’s formed, the power he has, but more the creation aspect behind that music. The way Clinton approaches the music studio itself is incredible. I must say that it is his work that I study and turn back to.

Success to me is…
the proper execution of a well organized plan. It is easier for me to describe what it’s like “climbing the ladder of success”. The way i see it, to climb the ladder of success means, everyday you must put yourself in a position where you have more control or ability then you had the last.

My over all goal for my life & career is…
to be able to constantly exceed myself at my best, and overall be more than, if not satisfied with where I end up.
