GETTING TO KNOW MEKENNA TATE

I leave the music business…
to my mom and dad. I can say it’s a lot of hard work especially wanting to create a song so people can feel what you are singing about. I want my fans to be a part of what I experience. I enjoy speaking and performing against bullying at this age. It makes the kids believe that anything is possible. With being 11 years old there are many things that I am learning about the music business but I look forward to continue this path to become a better artist. I am determined to not let anything get in my way. I feel as though if I don’t experience the down side I won’t enjoy the accomplishments.
As far as social media goes…
I have a few pages but they are monitored by my parents due to the negative side of it. I do have an Instagram page that I control.
I let my dad handle the releases of the music…
that but we want to reach out to all genres. I feel that selling albums can mean only a certain genre will purchase as to singles. If I release a single it gives different people a chance to pick one song they may like.
I Remember…
Listening to the radio and my parents telling me I have a great voice. Certain songs I sing with my mom and dad helped me find the love for music.
Music Trends…
We felt that trying to keep up with everything that is going on would be the wrong direction due to the negativity. We decided to make songs and attempt to make a change with bullying. We wanted to promote something positive for the kids and others who may experience bullying.
I’m most afraid of…
Losing someone important in my life.
Personal definition of success is…
being able to accomplish a mission without giving up no matter how rough things get. I tried out to win the part of singing. The National Anthem at my school along with 19 other students. It was narrowed down to 3 of us. My dad and I worked on the parts and eventually I won the part. I was able to sing for our annual May Fest. To me it was a great felling
My dream is…
to win several Grammy Awards and to be number 1 on the charts. I also want to make sure that my music makes people smile when they hear my music.I want to be able to help kids that are sick or less fortunate
3 Ways I work to meet my goals…
1) I set a goal and work for it
2) I work on perfecting my skills and try to be better than I was yesterday
3) I know that each step I make can only bring me closer to my goals.
What about me…
The song was written by my dad Leo Tate Jr. He and my mother, Melissa Tate are the owners of the independent record label Blue Star Production LLC. The song was written as a part of my campaign against bullying in which Heidi Carrier and Lil Cali joined me. This song was to encourage kids that bully other kids to step back and look at themselves before judging someone else. we want to have a positive message due to all the negative messages in the news. Every kid dreams of being someone famous and rich. If you dream it and work at it anything is possible. We want to change one kid at a time and make them realize that bullying is wrong. I have experienced it as well, so I can understand the feeling of being alone and not having friends

not far outside of New Orleans. There is not much of a music scene here. I am a cheerleader for Loranger Middle School and also a honor roll student. I love signing as well
