Music business…
The music business is changing. Or perhaps I should say its changed and will never be the same as before. This doesn’t mean it wont be a better version. We’ll see. Its forcing artists to use other creativity and depend on each other to get out there and show their artistry… Think 1969:)

We constantly have to remind ourselves that it HAS TO BE ABOUT MORE THEN JUST THE MUSIC! Why are we out there sharing the music…

Social media…
HA! I laugh because it seems a bit overwhelming at times to have so many social media sites, however, it is what allows us to connect in ways that we couldn’t have before without millions of promotional dollars. I have many fans from France and England based on the Social media world.

The challenge of trying to continue to gig…
stay creative, get video’s done for promotion and travel budgets ALL on a tight budget. Getting air play is challenging as well. Its also challenging for many to get proper representation.

Singles vs an album…
I have chosen to release singles as of late and an EP instead of another full length album. Much of the decision was due to the single message in each song and yet the other is based on finances. It is not an inexpensive venture to record…I have an award winning line dance Choreographer from the UK, who tours all over Europe and Asia teaching huge dance halls of people his line dance choreography and whoopin’ it up! I was blessed that he chose ‘Soul Shine Pizza’ and choreographed a line dance to it. So as promotion, he takes it ALL OVER Europe and is booked through 2017. Its great promotion for my song and that’s just one way that we promote.

My personal definition of success is…
Back in the day success was about money and how well you were doing was based on what your bank account appeared to be. That is not who I’ve become today. Success for me now is about what I leave behind in the minds of those around me. In music and in fitness my primary job is to help you supersede what you thought you could never do. I’m there in both to help you make it through the pain…. and in both feel joy at the close of a day. When I have a fan come up to me and share with me that a song I’ve written has changed their perspective THAT is success. The same goes for body transformation. My song These Hands brought a woman to tears because she got it….it touched her… After I performed it at a school fund raiser she came up to me and thanked me for it. THAT is a success

My over all goal for my life & career is…
To travel the nation and perhaps the world with ‘Music ‘n Motion’ . Our goal is to help those around us build their world positively through the lyrics we sing and the education we share about being the strongest version of yourself. Creating a ‘Mentors Among Us’ mentality has always been the purpose. In music we as artists have the rare ability to be in every crevice of peoples lives across the globe and hopefully when we’re their for the brief moments we can make a difference or at very least when their alone in their room or even cleaning their car…. our voice can change their momentary world!

3 Ways that I challenge myself and how each one moves me forward towards my goal.

1) Singing music outside of my comfort zone – presses me to write stronger and challenges my on stage presentation

2) Stay in shape no matter what stresses come my way – keeps me in the ‘go go go zone’ of the industry

3) Get up early in the morning and meditate no matter how late the night before – That’s how the ‘make it happen’ mode continues

I was blessed to grow up performing…
I knew from a young age that I wanted to perform. I began in Musical Theater and classical theater. It wasn’t until my thirties that I realized how powerful it is to make a difference with music and lyrics and that has been my journey ever since. No longer singing just for the sake of carrying a tune but now its to leave a lasting message in the listeners mind.

About A Girl…
is a special song it was written in 2015 as a female empowerment song by myself and Sally Garcia. We wrote it on the heels of a visual photo series by Bets Wilson where she highlighted me in her portrayal of the multi-sided woman. The series was based on the many sides of a woman. Emotional …mothering…business…introspection…powerful….strength…the little girl inside of all of us. These are many of the sides that Bets portrayed in her exhibitions in Tennessee and Georgia. She and I decided that writing a song to compliment the series would be ideal. The women discussed in the song have been frontiers women in our history leaving us with the vivid understand that inside of every strong woman lies a little girl still there beckoning her to follow her dreams and keeping her grounded. Amelia Earhart, Maya Angelou, Helen Keller, Rosa Parks, Betsy Ross to name a few. These woman our powerful parts of our history and its wonderful to give them acknowledgment in this song. The song has been received well by the fans and is inspiring to watch on stage.

As humor would have it the very day we recorded the demo in Nashville my fiance and I broke off the wedding. I was forced to feel ALL of what I just sang my heart out in studio. I’m laughing now but at the time it certainly wasn’t funny. Inside of every woman…its about a girl.

Love Me out Loud was…
my first album released in 2010. I was living in Miami at the time and was blessed to fly out to L.A. to record it with Ned Albright, Leland Sklar, Dean Parks and Herman Matthews. These four iconic session players brought my journey to life musically. It came through me on the heels of a difficult experience with Panic disorder that virtually grounded me from being able to perform. While it was the single most challenging time of my life, I did receive many blessings from it. My album was written while regaining myself and learning to Love myself …OUT LOUD. Love Me Out Loud is a musical conversation about relationships and what we will and won’t accept. Its a conversation about finding a whole knew you. It digs into the depths of feeling hard to love and the silent moments when maybe we just can’t get out of our own way. It challenges us to continue on our given road and through the album you will find its actually peering into the window of how many of us feel about ourselves.

Ned Albright is not only a musician on this album he produced it and is my co-writer. He has been the catalyst to transform my music world and for that I am deeply grateful. Many of the new songs that were released as singles have been great fun to record here in Music city which is where I reside now. Dan Hagen is a local producer who I have worked with for several years. You’ll hear some of the fun of Nashville through my song ‘Soul Shine Pizza’ which is actually one of our favorite places to hang out on Friday night. About A Girl, These Hands and Does This Groove Make My Butt Look Big were all produced by Dan Hagen and have proven to be some fun and honestly heart felt tunes. There are so many stories behind these songs some would make your heart cry and some would make you laugh uncontrollably but I’ll save those for a live interview as I know I need to keep this relatively short.

Without a doubt I hope to accomplish one thing with my music….a moment for the listener to take some time out of life and breath…laugh or maybe just sit and cry let it all out. As musicians and performers that’s our job!

Nashville, Tennessee…
SO Many great places to go. I love Third and Lindsley, The Listening Room, Soul Shine Pizza, Bourbon Street Blues and The Rutledge. The band and I just LOVE getting together and jammin’ Its always a fun time! But I couldn’t answer this without also saying I love lifting weights and running. I’m also a fitness professional:) We’re working on a tour now called ‘Music ‘n Motion’ all about bringing musicians and health and fitness professionals together in one place to share great energy of performing and great information from body transformation specialists of all kinds. Who better to spread the message then performers who truly work their buns off to stay in shape and perform and the trainers they have coaching them through their schedules etc….

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Dr. Wayne Dyer. He had an aura and giving nature that was glorious. I’d love to know more about the story behind how he came to be such a love filled ,accepting, non judgmental supportive human being. I deeply respect all those qualities.

Is there a balance to being current and trendy…
Depending on the genre indeed but I keep focusing on the message behind why I do it so that’s what has brought me success thus far. Number one thing I have found…ALWAYS be grateful and thank the people helping you. Its unfortunate I have seen many artists who simply have forgotten how powerful a Thank You can be….

I am most afraid of… Not stepping outside of my comfort zone. It’s a DAILY MUST DO!
