“You can’t be lazy in this business because there is always someone out there who is willing to work hard for it if you don’t want to. You have to treat your job like a business, and even though your a musician and its a blast, you can’t play all the time. ” – Josh Brock @90_Proof_Twang

GETTING TO KNOW JOSH BROCK – 90 PROOF TWANG
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
I have mixed feelings about the music business…
as I’m sure a lot of other people do. One thing that I do know is it’s difficult. You can’t be lazy in this business because there is always someone out there who is willing to work hard for it if you don’t want to. You have to treat your job like a business, and even though your a musician and its a blast, you can’t play all the time. Work has to get done. Basically don’t stop, no matter what comes your way.
Social media is…
a great way to promote yourself and your band. we can talk to anyone with just a touch on our iphones so its pretty wild. Myself, I’m not so good with it yet but thank god we have Conner.. ha.
I don’t really have a preference to a single compared to an album…
I think its all how the artist want to go about it, and what his business approach is. With us, we set a date and want to have so many songs written and recorded for a new cd. That’s just our approach at the moment, who knows what the future may bring though
I want 5 minutes alone with …
Keith whitley for sure. His songwriting was absolutely amazing. Everything about the guy was awesome. I’d soak up some of his words of wisdom for sure.
Music Trends…
In a lot of ways, I do pay attention to music trends. Everyone wants to be the new hip instead of just being themselves and letting their music speak for them. Personally we stay true to ourselves and the music we love and don’t let ourselves be followers.
I am afraid of…
Not much really, life is good. embrace it all. I do hate forgetting the words on stage though never fun.
Success is happiness within…
be proud of who you are and the work that your doing and that is what success is. A success story would be my entire life. I’m lucky to be here with friends and family so if you ask me, I’m doing alright.
Happiness that’s all I want…
3 Ways I push myself…
1. Write music weekly, it keeps me focused and driven.
2. I maintain a healthy body, makes sense.
3. I never give up. Ever
I started playing music when…
I was young. my dad played bluegrass music in church and on the road so I kinda just followed in his footsteps and learned to love music as well.
Poor Boys Paradise
the song is basically talking about how we don’t need money or fancy things to enjoy life. It was just a song title that I had come up with, and then brought up during a song write with Del and Porter of Little Texas. Purchase the song: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/90prooftwang3
Our music brings happiness…
I feel like we write songs that everybody can relate to which makes the song better. Our music is meant to be heard and interpreted however the listener wants to. It’s their choice. That’s why music is so great because you don’t have like everything you hear.
I live outside of Cincinnati Ohio…
there are so many great places to catch local and national acts. We stick to the bars on the outer edges of the city. So if we’re not playing we are still always roaming around and listening to live music. Its always nice to have places to go.
