GETTING TO KNOW REBEKAH KIRK

My Beginning…
Hi! I’m Rebekah Kirk and I’m 14! I sing, play piano and guitar ! I also write songs. This year I have written 16 and have been busy in the studio working on getting them ready for release.
My Auntie Liz found a week long stage school course during the summer of 2009 and by the end of the week I was given the solo at the end of course show. I had never done any acting or singing publicly before that. I was 8 years old.
“Ocean Lullaby”
There is a large black and white canvas on the wall in my music room at home which is of a pier and a large lake on a misty day. I was looking at this one night and Ocean Lullaby just came to me. It is basically a tragic love story with dark undertones. I have attached a copy of the canvas for you to imagine when you listen to the song.

Bio:
Rebekah was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 2000. She discovered her musical talent almost by accident in 2009 when her aunt told her about a one week summer class at a local Theater School. Although she had enjoyed singing to her Mum, usually on car journeys, this was as far as she had taken her singing to that point. Having had no performance experience prior to joining the summer class she not only discovered a real passion for singing but also auditioned for and got the solo part for the end of week show.
After this, Rebekah discovered that she truly had a talent for all things musical. She astounded those closest to her with this new found ability to not only sing but to sing really well despite only being 8 years old at the time.
Fast forward to 2015…..
Rebekah juggles school, exams and basically being a teenager with a fairly rigorous routine of gigs in the pubs, clubs, cafes and festivals of her home city and beyond. She has her own music room at home where she can usually be found working on her own sounds and in the past year she has written 17 original tracks and is working on more. Her songs come from her life experiences and extremely vivid imagination. She is already showing herself to becoming a gifted songwriter and her aim is to have an extensive back catalogue at her disposal.
In the past two years, she has picked up the piano and acoustic guitar and now uses these instruments when out performing rather than always relying on backing tracks. Growing up with parents who loved rock music she enjoys an eclectic mix of genres and as a result can basically turn her ‘musical’ hand to just about anything.
Always a perfectionist she will not allow her music to be uploaded onto YouTube or Soundcloud until she is completely happy. Recently she uploaded her first original song ‘Ocean Lullaby’ to Reverbnation and here are a few quotes from a ‘blind crowd review’ (those listening do not know anything about the singer or the song) who have heard it.
“Her voice has me speechless”,
“Where can I get the new theme song to my life, this song is amazing”,
“All I can say is WOW! This is a masterpiece!”
Impressive comments considering Rebekah was 13 when she wrote and recorded this song.
As Rebekah grows as an Artist and Musician she continues to build her reputation in the local area and now wants to expand and grow her fan base worldwide. This is not a race she wants to win instantly but a carefully considered path to travel along to give her a long and lasting career. She is honing her abilities and experience so that when the time is right she has the skill set required to move forward in the world of entertainment.
Rebekah’s voice has grown in strength in the years since she started performing at that first Theater School class and when she was last tested her vocal range was 4.5 octaves – it continues to improve and she works regularly with her vocal coach. She will never take for granted the incredible gift she has been given. She continues to work on improving her range and strength.
