Music business…
I really like the music business. I’m like a historian sponge. I soak up a lot of info! The Pros are the rewards you can get after you grind! You see the fruits. The Cons are that there is a huge division between major and underground indie artists. Some people in this business don’t know the business yet they pretend like they do by giving you bogus information and they don’t have relationships with whom they say! There are no short cuts in this industry! You have to create your own buzz! No one will create it for you and or more than you! Do background checks on the people who say they can help you! Everyone in this business are not who they say they are! Research! Research! I overcome pitfalls and hurdles with Jesus help. I have definitely bought lessons in this business and it teaches you quickly what not to do again! It wasn’t intentional but it’s experimental for sure!!
Social media…
I like social media because, you can market quickly but it is work! (Smile). Twitter is my favorite social media but it’s work too!
Singles vs an album…
Talk about the differences in your marketing strategy to support your preference. I like releasing singles because; it sets up success for the album. In 2009, we released “Tha Story Told Twice According to Shee Shee Vol. 1” We released the whole album and it took awhile to market it because, of no single. Again, Single, set up success for the album like appetizers sets up the main course for the entrée. You have to give the audience bits and pieces to take in and enjoy not the whole entrée at one time!

the awesome Cathy Hughes from Radio and TV Networks because, I would love to know how she set up radio one plus TV one, it’s affiliates plus how it operates. She sets up shop and have made them both successful! Again I am a Historian- Business person!
I have found a balance in my artistic direction…
I learned you could eat off a Record for years. So why Rush from Single to Single. Every Recording artist should take their time and market their single before moving to the next single especially when you are an underground indie artist. Every person may not hear your music all at once. Even if that, the world needs to hear it. So; take your time and market it! Build your brand too by creating your buzz!!
I am most afraid of…of nothing! No fear here!!
My personal definition of success is..
Success is not a destination, it’s a journey! I am so proud of the success the Lord has helped I and my husband achieve working this project. We have worked hard at marketing, even went through bought lessons, cons in the industry, disappointments and we are still on the grind and not giving up. I recently won an award for having the Best Christian Funk Song from Akademia Awards. I didn’t even know I was nominated but I am grateful plus honored! “Get Excited” is that Deal! Praise the Lord Yes Indeed!
My over all goals for my life & career is…
to be the best person, career, business person I can be plus do every call/purpose with a spirit of excellence!
3 Ways that I challenge myself…
1). Stay Studying the Word of God, it keeps me going even when I have thoughts of quitting, throwing in the towel or giving up!
2). Stay on my Grind working hard and creating a Brand
3) Success is not a destination, it’s a journey so keep working, stay the course! I believe we’ll reach our wealthy plus successful place!
I started writing music…
at the age of 8 plus playing the piano. I started singing in various choirs at the age of 10.
Get Excited…
is a song where God wants us to Get Excited about our lives. Sometimes the things we take for granted is the thing the God uses to propel us forward. Sometimes things in life like a job, career, circumstances, people, friends can be uncertain, or changing. God is the Same, Yesterday, Today and Forever. Let’s Get Excited and Embrace his unconditional Love for us.
My husband Glenn “GP” Piper wrote the song “Get Excited”. It was one of the last songs recorded for the “Are you Ready Chapter 2 CD”. We were going to release another song first until I heard the background vocals on this song, then we decided to release this one first. The funny thing is I hadn’t even added my vocals to it yet and it still was even hotter after I added my vocals. It put the icing on the cake! Praise Jesus!!
You can Expect…
Great Things from the BDM/Ugroove Music Label. This is our best CD album so far and we plan to go a lot further with the music the Lord allows us to do. I want people to really listen to our music and hear the heart of God. God speaks and he listens daily and by faith, so will the people he chooses to listen. I’m blessed that it’s all over the globe! To God be the glory! We have been marketing for a long time. We are still marketing by music business relationships, radio and TV networks, social media and again relationships. Key word: Relationships. Having a Radio Show on KVRN (Kingdom View Radio Network) in Houston that goes into 123 counties at 11:30 am CST every Wednesday helps too. Shout out to Randy and Michelle Harden Founders of KVRN. Yes Indeed!

The music scene in my town is interesting! We have to grind there too!! When not working, I love to hang out with friends and go to a restaurant in Galveston called “The Spot” in Galveston. It’s that deal!
