“I don’t feel any emphasis on being current or trendy. I try to write the best lyrics I can, and when the music is written, which ever direction it takes, that’s what the song will be. That way, it may sound current. I guess it depends on the listener & what they think.” Tony Cestaro

After many years of knocking around…
trying to get something started musically, I met a musician, Shaun Tique, who worked in a music store and ran a studio in the back.We talked about what was going on with my music in the past, and he told me to forget about the past & let’s start working on your original songs. Extreme Dream was the out come of that partnership.

Not Me…
The story behind the song Not Me off the new Cd Tranquility goes like this. My writing partner Shaun Tique, who I worked with on the Extreme Dream Cd, passed away. I was very sad & looking for someone new to work with. I was talking to Mark Spence, a musician I was in the Louisville Songwriters Co-Op with years earlier, and I asked him if he’d like to write together. One of the sets of lyrics he was having problems with was, Not Me. I sat down with lyrics and started to craft my ideas for them. I thought of all the break ups I knew about & used that as the foundation for writing the lyrics. He then went into the studio & recorded Not Me for the Cd he was working on. When I was getting ready to record Tranquility, we arranged it a little differently & what you hear on the Cd is the outcome. Hearing the finished song brought smiles to everyone involved.

New Albany, In….

(Kenuckiana area) The music scene has a little bit of everything: Pop/Rock, Metal, Jazz, Blues, Solo/Acoustic, Rap and Tribute bands. A couple of places I like to go are: Phoenix Hill for Rock, Metal. Tribute bands and Stevie Ray’s for Blues. I enjoy listening to new music by independent artists on Reverb Nation. It’s better than radio sometimes.

The only social media I use is Facebook…
What I like about Facebook is, I can keep up with my family & friends & artists I met & became friends with on ReverbNation.

Most challenging to me is…
to make sure the creative processes all come together for a song, the lyrics, musicians, vocals, and recording studio.

1. I am continually trying to become better by watching music videos & listening to new music.
2. To promote the song, cd’s, music, the brand Extreme Dream, and to make contacts & connections.
3. Keep journals of all lyrics written. Enter song contests, and read everything I can about the music business.

I have three influences…
Harry Chapin, because I love his lyrics and story telling. That’s what I try to do with my lyrics as well.
Tony Iommi, Black Sabbath, I love his guitar playing and his sound & tone. He has been a favorite guitarist of mine for many years.
And of course Journey, because I love their music, lyrics, musicianship & everything about them.

Inspiration and Music Trends..
I don’t feel any emphasis on being current or trendy. I try to write the best lyrics I can, and when the music is written, which ever direction it takes, that’s what the song will be. That way, it may sound current. I guess it depends on the listener & what they think.

I am always open to the opinions of all those I work with, to make the song come together, and with all their ideas and mine combined, it makes for a good balance. And I am always thinking of ideas & lyrics for new songs. Sometimes just everyday events such as nature, traveling, family , my faith & love inspire me to write. I want to be open to what opportunities life may bring that will inspire me for a song.
I am most fearful of…
Losing the ability to create and enjoy music.
I most want…
To stay healthy and enjoy spending time with my family and friends. To continue to write, record & create new music. To make a living financially at what I enjoy, since I love music and writing songs. I am pleased that I’ve received a number of awards for my poetry and song writing, which I feel is an accomplishment in itself. Doing what I love the best.
