Music business…
It’s not the same. It doesn’t seem like artists are in love with music like they used to be. They just sing or rap whatever. As long as the beat is nice and the hook is catchy, consumers eat it up. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you can’t have fun making a record because Dope Fiend Larry is my fun record. But some of the music today doesn’t touch you the way it used to back in the day.
The pros of what I experienced are…
performing, meeting other artist, connecting with the audience, traveling, and being creative.
The cons are…
hanging around negative people, if you’re not an important artist, they’ll treat you are not an important artist.
To overcoming the hurdles and pitfalls…
I stay humble, focused, and keep my faith in God.
Social media…
I’m ma be honest. Nothing really, but it’s a helpful tool to reach the masses.
My challenge has been to…
be within self. I tend to get in my own head and stir up my own self controversy. But when I realize what’s going on, I have to step out of my own way and let God handle it. Then I go back to doing what I need to do.
Singles vs an album…
I have no feeling towards it because good music needs to heard, whether it’s a single or album.

When I saw LL Cool J’s video “I’m bad” as a kid, I was head over heels with Hip Hop. I thought I was LL Cool J. I dressed like him and even licked my lips like him. I was a die-hard fan.
Do you find that there is too much emphasis on being current and trendy…
Yeah it’s too much emphasis on it because you’re trying to make the artist a product instead of just letting them be themselves. The balance I have found in my artistic decisions is something I heard Jay-Z say, “Don’t go with the flow, be the flow”.
I am most afraid of… God and that’s all.
My personal definition of success is…
My great-grandfather said to me “You can own a house, you can own that car, you can own land, but none of it means nothing if you don’t own yourself”. So to me owning yourself is the true meaning of success.
When Juelz and I became the CEO’s of our label…
It’s a great success to me because I can create the music I want and be the artist I want to be. I was under no one else’s control. It was simple. I said I wanted to do it and I did it.
My overall goal for my life & career is…
Stay true to myself, keep positive people around me and everything else will flow.
3 Ways that I challenge myself…
1) one… is to be better than I was five minutes ago.
2) two… making good music that will last forever.
3) three… I like making myself the underdog. It gives me something to fight for.
Dope Fiend Larry…
is a dance record. I was just having fun when I made it. As a matter of fact it is. Me and a couple of guys at work were mocking this guy in a scene of the movie called “Menace to Society”. In the scene, there’s a drug addict in an alley scratching himself so I said, “Hey that looks like a silly little stupid dance”. Then boom! I had the idea for the dance and the song. I kept itching. Dope Fiend Larry got a hold of me. I couldn’t shake it baby.
You can expect good music from me…
Things that are gonna make you laugh, cry, think, be motivated, and have fun. I look at music as being a Picasso painting. Though it’s abstract, it’s unique in its own way. It opens up your mind. It’s daring to be different. The music lives under its own rule. Not to be a blow heart, but just to let people know that Masarahti he is the future.

The music scene is off the charts and it’s the place to be. Deep Ellum, Mo Mo’s Lounge, and Absinthe.
I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
My February, which is my misses. You have to see her to understand the reason. I admire her because she is who she is… she has a good heart. February inspires me by believing in me when I fall short in that department.
