My dad…
To be able to tell him that he was right a lot more and then I gave him credit for. To tell him, that I don’t believe I was actually listening to him or reading between the lines when he was telling me that I was talented as some, and more than most, to follow my dreams, to be a musician or anything I wanted to be.
I’m making music for myself. When you listen to my music your going to hear a range of influences and sounds. I like to experiment and I’m growing as an artists each time I do.
My next journey is going to be in exploring meditation and healing music. I feel a calling in this direction and I’m excited to start playing with a few instruments in different ways. It’s going to be a great experience that I can share with my wife who is a message therapist. She’s got a great ear and I think the production ahead of me is going to show my growth on so many levels.
You Say You think..
“A Saturday”.
A Saturday is about getting in touch with myself. It takes me to a place at a time in my life when I wasn’t making such great decisions, and not taking the path that I really wanted to be on. I have been making changes in my life, and more often than not, change is very difficult and painful; through the difficulties there is also growth. I figured out, that before I can grow, I have to forgive myself in order to move on. Clean house, so to speak.
“A Saturday” is also beginning my dream of writing, playing, recording music and not being afraid of myself, getting rid of the fear of what I have to say. Believing in me.
I began to record my song on my cell phone. I found the rhythm to it while sitting in the hotel room on a Saturday and the words and music just started to flow. I brought the idea to my recording studio, and recorded all the tracks; So became “Flatland Rock”.
My album…
Well, it has a lot of different sounds to it. I call it rock, flatland rock, it also contains three instrumentals, one of them is my interpretation of jazz.
It’s an album about where I am in my life. Changes I’m making, and where I want to be. It’s sort of a past present compilation.
I’m from a small town in a rural Kansas…
As for a music scene, there are a few festivals or events throughout the year that includes music. We have a local coffee shop, Mojo Espresso and restaurant, Mulligans on Main, that have occasional music acts.
Social media…
I think it’s awesome that we have the Internet so our music can be heard world wide. The cons about mainstream music, is that I don’t believe they’re playing music that everyone wants to hear. I believe there or thousands of excellent musicians, performers and bands out there that never really get heard by the masses. They have excellent messages and music to be heard. That’s why I like the idea of all outlets that give opportunity to the bands that have something to say and play from their hearts and their souls.
