I’m Ok with the music business,
I can’t speak for the rest of the guys in the band, but as long as you keep up with it and move with it and adapt it’s fine. It’s constantly changing right now, which I feel is both exciting and frustrating at times. Haha.@thegoneband
Episode #353 : A.V.A Live Radio Behind The Music with Jacqueline Jax :
GETTING TO KNOW THE GONE
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
John (bassist) with input from Marc (lead vocals and guitars)The Gone
I’m OK with the music business,
I can’t speak for the rest of the guys in the band, but as long as you keep up with it and move with it and adapt it’s fine. It’s constantly changing right now, which I feel is both exciting and frustrating at times. Haha.
As far as the pros go,
we’re getting a lot of great feedback from our music. We’re in the middle of a Development deal with a great experienced music firm called Big Noise, and they’re stirring up some exciting things for us.
I personally like albums. Why? Albums,
I feel an album gives more insight to the band and more or less tells a story of the process of those songs as far as what they were going through and listening to at the time of writing those songs.
Talk about the differences in your marketing strategy to support your preference.
I can’t really say that my marketing strategy supports my preference here because, the marketing strategy in the music industry is really about the song these days, with so much streaming etc. Whenever possible we use links to the full album and talk about the album as a whole.
The thing I like about social media,
obviously would be the mass exposure potential, running marketing campaigns through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. brings the whole world right into your rehearsal studio, and you can really present yourself the way you intend to come across.
Because the guy is nearly single handedly keeping great Rock music breathing,
and really comes across human, not pompous. Like a bro you want to hang out with. Not to mention the talent the guy has, and has available to him. It would be great to pick his brain about marketing strategies, and band strategies in general.
Current and trendy has always been the aim of the music industry
whether musicians care to admit it or not. I’m not saying that that is what all musicians strive for, but if you want to have major industry success etc. that’s what the industry looks for – marketability, right?
You have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself – Miles Davis
I (John) personally was always around music.
My dad was a very accomplished jazz upright bassist. I was inspired by a love of all kinds of music throughout my upbringing and started playing as a teenager with friends that were very talented.
Marc wrote the song in 2015, and more or less wrote the song around the riff. After he had the riff going he wrote the lyrics, which are just about the complications of relationships.

First of all, what you can expect I guess is what critics and reviewers are saying;
The Gone perfectly blend the powerful and the pop, even more so than the original Alt-rockers. There’s a catchy, melodic spirit, in the shadow of emo/pop punk, showing that The Gone have similarly mined that rather maligned genre of its charms, and ditched the riff-raff. – J. Simpson, No More Division
Also, Lancaster, Pennsylvania-based rockers The Gone offer a refreshing blast of high-octane guitar-grinding rock in their anthem “Hit the Wall.”- Song Critique from Billboard Magazine Critic/Contributor Chuck Taylor
We are based out of Lancaster, PA.
The music scene here is really cool and eclectic.
Anything you’re into you can go catch live, it’s really remarkable.
Our city is very arts and food oriented.
The places to go and see here are great from history walks (our city was founded in1736) to any kind of eating establishment to music venues. Really great places to go and see.
Aside of spending time with my family,
I enjoy playing music with The Gone (my 2nd family) .
