A: I feel the music business has changed so much since the technology/communication age
has reared it’s head. It’s easy for artists to get quality sound recordings at home for little money rather than the old days of having to book expensive time in a professional studio. With the internet, it is an endless stream of avenues to promote your music online to a worldwide audience rather than having to rely on major record labels to get noticed and heard. I think if you are open to these new media options, anyone can promote themselves successfully.
A: Pros are many new media outlets
i like podcasts and Youtube that get your music out there quick.
Cons are the loss of intimacy with these new outlets.
I still prefer getting lost in vinyl album covers that you hold in your hand rather than
downloading a song that has digital artwork.
A: I prefer albums than singles because you get a broader picture
of what the artist is all about. Singles are fine and I would be happy to tour the world with a hit. But I would love for the album to touch people on different levels of emotion rather than be one dimensional. The marketing aspect I like is to play live as much as possible. Nothing beats word of mouth.
A: Now with Youtube and social media outlets,
people can see your performances worldwide by word of mouth. I also like building relationships with fans online and through emails. The world is at your fingertips in this space age time we live. With all the tools available these days it totally benefits artists to fan relations across the globe.
A: Being current or trendy doesn’t appeal to me much.
As long as the music comes from the heart and has a real emotion attached to it, I like it. I like artists that are true to themselves as individuals rather than be concerned about being trendy.
A: By having a positive non-ego attitude
and always surround yourselves with like-minded people that have similar goals and dreams.
A: By always doing what makes me happy.
Standing behind your values is always the right course for me. Be genuine, honest and authentic and always be a good person. At the end of the day, it’s you that you have to sleep with.
A: Angus Young of AC/DC.
They have stuck to their same formula for over 40 years and have stood the test of time. Plus they are my fave band. 🙂 I was inspired by Angus and Co. at a young age and have admired their no-nonsense, in your face approach to rock n’ roll. Also, how in the hell does he keep going like a guitar madman? He’s a machine!
A: I myself got started in music very young.
At 2 years old I was using a comb or a brush as a microphone singing along with Credence and Neil Young records that my parents would play. I had an uncanny knack for remembering lyrics and songs. My mom was surprised that I could say full sentences at 9 months old. My father had an old drum kit he got for Christmas and I would beat on those a lot. Also, He had gotten a Lyle acoustic guitar for my mother for their 3rd wedding anniversary. I picked it up seriously at 12 years old when mom showed me a few chords and off I went learning guitar on my own. Through grade school, I played trumpet, then switched to baritone in junior high with the school band.
By high school in Midland, Texas I joined my first band called Tyranny.
I sang for this band doing covers of Motley Crue, Beatles, Def Leppard. It wasn’t until I turned 18 and graduated high school when I took a trip back to Oregon (my home state) where I reconnected with my grade school buddies who had formed a hard rock band called X-Piracy and they needed a singer. I auditioned and got the gig, packed up my things and moved from Texas back to Oregon to sing for X-Piracy. We had a good 10-year run and moved to LA
which landed us a publishing deal with Virgin. Also, we scored a few tunes in an HBO movie called American Yakuza in 1992. X-Piracy disbanded soon after and I kept playing music with various bands until settling in Klamath Falls, OR in 2012. I found Vic Picks (guitar), Chris Garrett ((drums), and Dean Oliver (bass) and formed my current project Black Cadillac Kings.

A. Baby Loves My Hotrod is a tongue in cheek tale of a lover
that enjoys the fast life of cars and sex. It’s easy to distinguish the innuendos within the lyrics.

A: The recording took place at my home Buddy Club Studios during the winter of early 2016.
I came up with the main riff and lyrics while Chris Garrett, Vic Picks, and Dean Oliver wrote their parts that ended up on the finished product.
A: We wrote this 5 song debut album from the heart
and the title track on the album “Black Cadillac Kings” is the first time a band theme song had ever been written by us or any other band/project we had been a part of in the past. Our music is definitely part of the rebirth of Amercian blues-based roots music that comes from early rock n roll, blues, country, rockabilly and Americana style.
We live and are based out of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
While I myself was born here, Vic Picks hails from SanDiego, CA. Dean Oliver from Michigan and Chris Garrett is out of Seattle, WA. The universe lined up and brought us together in Klamath Falls, OR. The music scene here has many talented musicians and bands that range in many styles from singer/ songwriters, folk, country, blues, funk, pop, metal and hip-hop. We are the house band at a wonderful Irish Pub called The Pikey which hosts a lot of rockabilly, blues and rock n roll bands from all over the country. Other places that host live music we play are Mia & Pia’s Brewhouse, Klamath Basin & Brewing, The American Legion and The Ross Ragland Theater. Vic Picks and myself, also do an acoustic duet in which we play at Biagio’s Resturant, Gino’s Sports Bar & Resturant for more intimate settings to name a few.
