The music business to me in really a whole bunch of things.
I think it helps artists out, but at the same time, can make an artist feel pressure to write certain songs. I want to be in the music business and play music that people love listening to and singing to, but I just don’t want to get led down a road I don’t need or want to be on @GMillirenMusic

The music business to me in really a whole bunch of things.
I think it helps artists out, but at the same time, can make an artist feel pressure to write certain songs. I want to be in the music business and play music that people love listening to and singing to, but I just don’t want to get led down a road I don’t need or want to be on.

I have experienced many pros with music such as the way I feel when I play,
the amount of joy I get out of writing music, and being on stage. While I am up on stage, it just feels as if I belong there. I haven’t ran into many cons, but the biggest ones would have to be exposure, and getting my craft out there. It is such a big business and I feel as if a lot of music goes unheard so that’s the part that kind of frightens me as a young musician.

I turn my struggles into triumphs by writing.
As I mentioned earlier, I had two big hardships occur in my life. And the best way to help me deal with it and turn it into something positive was writing music.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with Dave Matthews.
Dave Matthews has been my #1 favorite artist of all time since freshman year of high school (now a freshman in college). Reason being is because the way he goes about life and the uniqueness he brings to the world with his music is so pure, and the emotion he puts into his music is so real that no one will ever compare to him. I just want to know what his journey was like as a young musician so I could do my best to take the necessary step.

What inspired me to start playing music was when I got my first guitar in the 6th grade.
But, I also was just a huge fan of music in general. Everything I listened to made me feel a way that I have never felt before, and brought this huge amount of joy to me. And I didn’t really start picking up the guitar I had from 6th grade until I was a freshman in high school in 2012.

The song name is “Fallin”

I wrote this song about my current girlfriend.
It first started out as a catchy four-chord progression that I fell in love with. But, as I kept playing it and tried to find a melody and lyrics for it, I couldn’t get my mind off of my girlfriend. It just felt like it was something I’d hear while being with her, and that is what ultimately got me to start the writing process. Then it just became one of my favorites to play because who doesn’t love a nice love song?

Well, my EP, The Rooftop Demos,
was really kind of an album based on past hardships that I went through. From getting dumped by an ex-girlfriend, to losing one of my brothers to death, it really came out as a symbol of my struggle. My life wasn’t the best in that time period and the best way for me to cope with it was to just write music. But, I am in the midst of writing a new 5 song EP and hopefully will get it out around the holiday season. It still has a little work to be done, but for the most part, I am really loving it. It’s kind of a mix between brand new songs, and songs I already wrote, but were put on the back burner.

2-0

I grew up in Naperville, Illinois for 18 years of my life,
but now I live in Bloomington-Normal, Illinois and attend Illinois State University. There wasn’t a crazy big music scene in Naperville, and I feel that goes hand in hand with the scene here in Normal. But, at the same time, Normal has a lot more bars/entertainment places than Naperville does and Naperville has a lot of good summer shows you can submit your craft into. The best part about Naperville though was that they had a lot of great places in their downtown area where you could post up and play and make some tips.
