GETTING TO KNOW MARCIA SOUL
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
As a newbie and an indie artist it can be scary,
or rather people scare you. So most of your time is spent in researching and reading because people are not generous with information, but once you have built your own network, it gets easier. For me, the fun part is freedom of creativity and control or having the final say in your brand.
A few people came to mind but Erica Campbell stood out.
I can’t quite explain it but every time I listen to her sing, speak or even watch their reality show, I am drawn to who she is as a person, her warmth and character. Her genuine love and patience for people, work ethic or spirit of excellence inspires me. Whenever I listen to her I am inspired, motivated and believe anything is possible.
Beginning of 2012 my husband left his job to start his own business.
Later on in the same year we also had a big wedding celebration. What seemed to be a good year went downhill fast. I was in an accident at home just 4 days after the wedding. While still on crutches, my husband was in a terrible car accident. While he was fighting for his life in hospital I was hopping around on my crutches trying to cover everything. My husband recovered but by the time he came home, there wasn’t much left of it. We lost our home, car and it was just bad. A pastor took us in and there was no money coming in. It was during that time this song was birthed. I believed and knew that I could make it, not just out of that situation but also in terms of my dreams of inspiring people my music… and what better way to start then this song.

The song “I Can Make It” is supposed to evoke stubborn faith in you,
whether you’re pushing for your dreams or going through something. I wanted a movement of fighters who push against all odds and inspire others while at it.
I live in Johannesburg, South Africa.
We have a lot of fresh and authentic talent, so much so that a lot of international artists are collaborating with our artists which is exciting. Johannesburg has a culture of its own that is just buzzing. I recently did a quad bike tour around Soweto, where we went to Tata Nelson Mandela’s house, and enjoyed some local cuisine and talent as well. That was awesome. I would also suggest Maboneng precinct, Apartheid museum, along with the Cradle of Human kind which was declared a World Heritage site.
