Promise…
It started as me sitting down at the piano and playing some chords and just letting words fall into place, but as I wrote it the meaning of the song became about people in my life not accepting something or someone that I love. The structure of the song is kind of weird and different, and I actually was inspired by ‘Mine’ by Beyonce and how the song has different parts that aren’t exactly like every song you’ll hear on the radio. It took a while to finish the production, because the song was finished in November and it was supposed to be released in December, but then I was sick, and then I was busy, etc, etc.

Prosper Texas...
I live in Prosper, Tx and the music scene in my town is basically all country music… so I don’t really fit in, but that’s okay. It’s a pretty small town, we have a CVS, a gas station, a Chinese take-out, a pizza place, and sonic, that’s about it. Music and school take up basically all of my life right now, but this summer when I have more time, I really want to take painting lessons, because I’ve always loved art and I’ve always wished I could do it.

Social media…
Everything. You’re able to talk to almost anyone anywhere, and it’s a great way to get the word out about gigs and songs and things like that.

Songwriting..
Lots of time I get stuck in the middle of writing songs, but I’ll just set that song aside and work on a new one, then however long later, I’ll go back and listen to the song again, and I’ll have a whole new mindset.

Top 3 songwriting tips…
1. A cool tip my songwriting teacher told me is, there’s the metaphorical pendulum in songwriting, on one side, you have really artsy, poetic lyrics, and the is just straightforward, telling it how it is lyrics, and when you’re writing a song, you have to find a balance in the middle of both.
2. Something I always do when songwriting is put a romantic twist on a situation. I’m a 15 year old girl who goes to online school and has never had a boyfriend, so you would wonder why I’m writing love songs, but lots of times, they’re maybe about a friend or even just a feeling and you just personify that feeling and turn it into a romantic situation
3. Another thing I’ve learned is to take chords, or lyrics from songs I love, and then change them up and make them your own. I always do this when I hear a song and I’m like wow, I wish I wrote that, so I kind of just take a part of the song and make it my own.

Music trends…
I think that yes, you do have to keep track of what’s going on, but at the same time, you’re not going to get anywhere if you just do what has already been done. You have to take your own twist on something already popular, because that’s what everyone wants, new.

Success…
I think a person who is happy is successful.

The Future…
For me, I’m not exactly ‘working on an EP’, but I’m just constantly songwriting and I know I will have one at some point in time.

Looking forward to...
I’m looking forward to further developing my style and sound and really making everything click for me as an artist, and I’m looking forward to recording new music.
