GETTING TO KNOW KATE
by Jacqueline Jax host of A.V.A Live Radio
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio…
The music scene is not that great unfortunately. It is steadily growing and you are starting to see more and more pop artist but still not many.
I’ve taken to social media to step into the light and this next year I have plans to move my production in a pop direction. It’s exciting when you can have the room to grow as an artist and experiment with different genres. I’m fortunate that my music gives me the ability to expand. It’s going to be a great year of experimentation for me.
The music business…
is very tricky. I have had many rejections and people not responding back. But none of that will stop me. Hopefully the deeper I get into it the easier it gets.
I would love to have 5 minutes with Justin Timberlake….
He is a huge inspiration to me; as a performer and innovator. I would love to just sit in a recording session with him and see where he gets his inspiration or what his routine is or how he comes up with beats and melodies. That would be a dream.
It’s your typical break up song saying that after awhile you’re going to be okay, you’re going to get through it. I was talking to a friend of mine who just ended a relationship and he said to me “after awhile I’ll be fine, just going to take some time” and I was like that would make a cool song.
I recently released my very first EP, which is out now…
I love writing. I wrote all my lyrics and then I hooked up with Kent Wells, Dolly Parton’s producer, in Nashville and he helped write all the music and give them life. I told him the direction and tempo I wanted to take it all and he came back to me the next day with the music written. It has a 90s pop music feel to it which I love. It’s different than what you’re hearing now on the radio which I think makes it more unique. Kent is just a musical genius and super nice guy. I’m currently working on a new single with a producer here in Cincinnati. I’m still exploring my sound so we are doing more of the modern pop song.
