Music Business…
I think it’s kinda like any business really. If you get out there and people can hear your music, you get known. If you’re good enough you’ll survive an if you continue working hard you’ll stay in the public’s eye. Everybody has to start somewhere, you don’t just wake up and you’re songs are hits and your famous. You have to continue to perfect your craft and you’ll get there. Even some artists write about the fact they have to do what the labels tell them. Of course the label want hits, that what sells records. So I get that. But it seems to me that sometimes you have to fall into the cookie cutter mold. I’m not sure if that’s exactly right, cause I haven’t experienced a lot of that. I only know what I’ve heard.

Pros are what I hear when my songs are mixed & out there. The feedback is they love the song and each one gets better.

Con’s the only one I can think of is being told that the song has to be commercial. I understand that people want catchy songs, that ’s what sticks in your head after the song. But I’ve heard songs that don’t necessarily sound commercial but are awesome and rock. That’s just my opinion.

Hurdles and pitfalls…
I’m learning what’s right and wrong as far as the dynamics of songwriting. I think errors make you better an hopefully I don’t have to learn a lesson more than once. But I’m human and a kid still so don’t hold me on that. Also things take time, especially since most of my studio time is on the weekends as not to interfere with school, so it doesn’t get finished right away. That can be frustrating cause I want to hear it yesterday, if you know what I mean.

Social media..
Instant gratification. It’s awesome and that’s what social media gives you. I like the fact that I can let someone know about my new song coming out and my fans will start talking about it. I love the support and the empowerment my fans give me. I read so many nice comments that they write an share. If you ever having a bad day or a bumpy start, all you have to do is read some of the things they write and it will power you up. The fans are what keep me going even though they might say I keep them going. They don’t realize how much they are a big part of me and my career. It’s an incredible feeling.

I’ve had to realize that some people are not going to love what I do…
or my music, and to just let it go. Of course there are those who will hate and try to put you down but that’s everywhere. Hater’s gonna hate, you see it everyday with other famous artists. I just don’t pay attention to those people or comments. It’s non of my business what they think anyway. They just want to shout their opinion to the world. That’s fine but it doesn’t matter to me.

Singles vs an album…
Singles so far and love it. You can get it out there pretty quickly an start on the next one. Especially if your excited about a song, you don’t have to wait so long to get it out there for your fans to hear. Plus I can follow up with a music video fairly fast too.

Since my time is limited to the weekends with recording right now because of school, time is valuable. Singles get done fairly fast and I can let my fans know on social media when it’ll be out. There’s not a lot of artwork that needs to be done as opposed to an album. The whole process is faster.

I would love to have 30 minutes alone with…
Slash and find out about his childhood and how he played guitar. I’d like to know about when he was a kid what his vision was. How was it playing with Guns and how much of his creativity went into the band.
I’d like to know if they let him freely express his guitar playing or only required him to do what they wanted. He has inspired me since I was about 7 yrs old. My parents took me to his book signing an he signed the book my Dad bought. I didn’t get much time cause there was a long line, but he looked as cool as ever. I dressed up as Slash for Halloween that year complete with guitar case as my candy bag. Most kids knew who I was but they called me the guitar hero guy with the top hat. I had to correct them that I was Slash. He just seems so down to earth and normal. He’s just the coolest dude and kills it on the guitar. I hope one day I become as great of a guitar player as he is.

I think there is an emphasis on being trendy…
Like I mentioned before, I’ve heard that you need to follow the cookie cutter mold. I thought ,“nay that can’t be”. But I’m hearing it more and more. I’m new in the biz, so far I’m just continuing with what I like. Because I’m independent I’ve been able to be creative the way I want. If I had a label choosing the direction I might not be able to be as creative as I am now.

I am most afraid of…
Loosing the desire to play guitar. I love my guitar and enjoy it so much, I can’t imagine not playing it forever.

My personal definition of success is..
Having played at the WhiskyaGoGo for the first time last Aug. 02, 2015. It is such an incredible part of music history and all the greats have played on that stage before. I just feel really privileged to have been able to play on that same stage. Seeing my name on the Marquee on Sunset Blvd at the Whisky was a pretty cool thing too. It was my first single to release, “Back To The Start”, we needed a venue to have the release party.

A family friend, Robbie Crane, bass player formally of the band RATT and now with Black Star Riders suggested that we have it at The Whisky. I performed a few covers from my favorite bands. It was my drummer, Matthew Lucas and Robbie Crane was my bass player. I was so honored that he got up to play bass for me. We rocked the house and it was such an awesome feeling to see people singing along. At that moment I knew this was what I wanted to do. It was so empowering and such an incredible feeling. I was on a natural high for days.

My over all goal for my life & career is…
I’d like to go to college, continue to write songs and play out. Ultimately I’d like to play bigger venues like Staples Center & The Forum, to tour around the world and collaborate with some of the greats out there. I’d love to jam with Slash and have him come up on stage and play with us while we’re playing a concert. That would be such a treat for me and the fans.

3 Ways that I challenge myself and how each one moves me forward towards my goal.

1) I try to play more intricate guitar riffs each time I play so I become a better guitar player.

2) I continue to work my vocals so my voice gets stronger and has more range.

3) I practice playing other instruments like drums & bass guitar to become a better musician with more skill.
I’ve always loved music..
My parents have always played music at home so it was always been around, all styles too. My Dad is big on classic rock & rock n roll in general. So he’d always put an album or CD on an tell me a story about who was playing. So I think they definitely had a hand in sparking my interest. They got me guitar lessons when I was 5 yrs. old and loved it so much kept taking lessons to get better. My dream at age 5 was to be a RockStar. My Mom & Dad are very positive people, she’s always telling me “if you can see it you can be it”, and my Dad says “keep you’re eye on the prize”. They’re both very supportive of me in my career & dreams. I liked to watch Slash shred on guitar, in life an on guitar hero the video game. He was
one of my idols. I’d say I want to be like him one day.

Look At Me
It’s about seeing someone that catches your eye and they don’t know that you’re alive, that you wish they would just look at you to notice you. I think everyone’s had this happen to them at least once in their life, where they notice a girl or guy and that person sees right past them. If they would just see them for a moment, maybe there eyes could connect and they could share a moment or smile and then maybe just maybe they could be together. But if they never have their eyes meet, then it can never happen.

My friend and writing partner, Jerod Farnes and I were sitting around playing guitar and just started talking about things. We were playing with this melody
and the song just started to form and started to flow. Before we knew it, the song was written.

Jerod and I are always messing around and cracking eachother up, so we were really having fun with it. It turned out to be one of my favorite songs so far. I love the beat the feel of the song and the way it flows. It’s fun and hopefully my fans love it too.
I want to write music that…
makes you feel good, that gets you singing along and that you can relate to. I don’t have a ton of life experiences so when something happens in my life you can be sure I’m probably gonna write a song about it. I love rock n roll music so I’d like my music to continue to grow in that direction, more rock/pop, more earthy if there is such a thing. As a teenager we face situations in life like your first love, how it crushes you because it’s the first time you fall in love. I’m sure it doesn’t get easier any time you fall out of love, but you learn that it’s part of life and experiencing it makes you grow & feel privileged.

I want people to hear my music and be able to say I get it, I’ve been there and totally know what he’s talking about. A few people (fans) have written to me telling me just that or “ my friend is just like that with his girlfriend”. If they can relate then it can mean more to them then just singing along. When a song hits home or your heart, I think it becomes more special.

When I make my album…
first I hope that it’s awesome and people love it. Then I hope all the songs rock and are awesome, not just filler for the hits. I love to write and hope they all come out strong and awesome. Then I hope People can relate to them and they hit a special experience inside them. If I keep up the pace I am now the album will be written in no time. I’m hoping by the middle of this year I’ll
have enough songs for the album.

It’s a California life in Redondo Beach…
and it’s all good. I’m so Blessed to live where I am. I recently had friends visit from Michigan and they were so happy to escape the snow of winter. None of them wanted to go back after visiting. You can see the beach from my house cause we live close. Even when the sun’s not shining it’s an awesome place to live.

The music scene here is awesome. There are quite a few clubs that help independent artists showcase their work. There’s St. Rocke in Hermosa Beach, The Lighthouse, Live at the Lounge and a few other places in the South Bay. Even though I’m a minor, they will let me come in early play an acoustic song or two then I have to head out cause the drinking age is 21. There are so many places that support music & bands. It’s really awesome. There’s also local fundraisers and festivals that look to hire bands for entertainment. You can find yourself playing a concert for a charity then on the next day play the lobster festival for hungry fans. If you want to travel to Hollywood you can play places like the WhiskyaGoGo or The Roxy an Troubadour. Those are iconic venues that you can share the stage with some of the famous heroes that played their before.

One of my other favorite things to do is snowboard. I love snowboarding and try to go when I get the chance. It’s also really cool that from where I live it’s only a short drive, like 2 hours to the snow in Big Bear so I can have the best of both worlds. Get an afternoon of snowboarding and then head back to the beach. I’m a very outdoors kind of person so rock climbing and cliff jumping are other activities I enjoy. I’ve recently taken to slack line walking on the beach. It’s like a tight rope attached to 2 poles and you have to try to balance & walk across the line. I’ve also done back flips off the line which is fun. I like golf, basketball, football and soccer an flipping on the trampoline. Love to go to the movies, help at the local animal shelter and give lovin to all the pets who need homes. I wish I could adopt them all.

Also, I would love to try skydiving. I love video games!
Love to play Call of Duty and blow stuff up. I get a little too into the game though and you can hear me yelling at the tv console. But it’s so real, that when you have the head phones on you’re in another world. It’s awesome.
