My music will continue to inspire people…
to have faith in God. The What’s Ahead album represents that ideal. We expect that people who are on fire for God will give us the thumbs up; people who are luke warm will be encouraged to hear that the things they once believed to be true are still true, and the unbeliever who hears our music will be prompted to consider the question, ‘why am I here?’

Ah balance!
One of the most important words in any vocabulary. I listen to a lot of Christian and jazz artists now. Back in the day, I used to listen to a lot of street music. In those days, there was a certain groove that was similar and common to those tunes. But the music of now is more independent and that independence allows for more creativity which I think is a good thing.

Music Business…
To be honest, I’m not very adept at the music end of business. I do know that with the development of the Internet, today’s independent artist has a phenomenal resource unavailable to previous generations. With the push of a button, we can launch our music into the global market place. I am thankful for Brian Ferland, my associate who has been handling the business side of things for me. Not every song writer, musician or vocalist is a good business person. I recommend finding someone you can trust who is business minded to handle that so you can focus on your craft.

Social media…
is a wonderful resource when it’s used for good. Many of us have had to unfriend someone who doesn’t use the right language or who conveys the wrong spirit. Other than that, it’s a great way for folks to stay connected.

What’s Ahead…
I don’t want to sound religious but it was in the 80’s after I began a personal relationship with God that the gift of song writing came alive in me. ‘What’s Ahead’ was written during the most difficult time of my life. After 7 years of a marriage that was failing badly, my wife and I separated and signed divorce papers. My license was suspended so I was bussing it to different construction job sites. I was living alone in a three family house. But I had connected with God. I came to believe He loved me in spite of my messed up life. And I believed He planned a future for me that was far better than my current situation. If you listen to the lyrics, you will hear what I was feeling in contrast to the faith was sustaining me during those difficult. And by the way, my wife and I got back together! We have a great marriage and will celebrate our 41st anniversary next month (Feb. 2016)

Providence…
I have lived in Providence most of my life, the biggest city in the smallest state. The there are lots of small cafes and clubs but the best place to hear great music is at the Park Theater in nearby Cranston. Besides writing music I love stunt kite flying and playing chess.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Kirk Whalum. This brother has reached virtuoso status in the realm of gospel jazz. I have followed him from his early days on the music scene. And the spirit that comes across in his productions along with world class quality is something I admire and strive toward.

I am most afraid of
Having great music inside of me that goes unproduced or under produced.

My personal definition of success is..
Effectively loving and being loved by the people God has placed in your world. This past year, my youngest daughter Amber Rose graduated from Tufts University, Magna Cum Laude. I like to think that my love and commitment to God, my love and commitment to my family and my music were all part of that.

My over all goal for my life & career is…
I am a licensed electrician. I learned the trade in my 20’s and have been doing it all my life. That is what put bread on the table. I would like if my love for music could be the conduit to take care of my family’s needs

3 Ways I push myself…
(1) I have a make shift gym in my basement and commit to working out at least 3 days a week. I believe keeping physically fit is necessary for future success.
(2) I will stop what I am doing to address the needs of my family. Only when I know I have done my best by my family can I enjoy any success that comes my way.
(3) I have dedicated my music to God. Although I know that other genres could be more lucrative, I have determined to stay on this course.
