GETTING TO KNOW RYAN LANE

Success…
My definition of success is finding genuine happiness in whatever it is you do. Too many people rise to the top just to find that they’re no happier than they were when they were at the bottom. In that sense I already feel extremely successful and will continue to get more successful as my life progresses.

What’s ahead…
The journey of life, wherever it may take me. I’m a father, an engineer, and a musician, and all of those things will be in my life forever. I’m incredibly blessed and even more, so grateful for all the amazing opportunities life has offered me, and I’m just excited to be living. Life is beautiful.

A Life of Music…
I have been surrounded by music my entire life, my father is a professional musician and I’ve gotten to spend a fair amount of time with him in a studio and at his concerts. I got my start in electronic music a few years back after having gone to a couple of shows that changed my perspective on what music could be. I started DJing and then found a love for producing and have been addicted ever since.

Nubs…
This song was one of the first that I considered “Studio Quality” and was a big step for me. I put a lot of time and effort into it and I feel that it really puts my soul on display. That is probably the most important thing for me as an artist; I believe that music is a window to the soul. It just came together piece by piece in a very methodical way.

Colorado Springs, Colorado…
The music scene out here is definitely on the rise. We’ve had a couple of big venues open up here over the past year or two and recently we’ve had some really big artists come through. As I had mentioned before, I recently had the pleasure of opening for Mimosa, and in August I’ll be opening for one of my personal heroes, Mr. Bill. I love the nature out here, its an amazing thing to have all of this beauty right here in our back yard. Green Mountain Falls is one of my favorite places to go, it is absolutely serene.

Social Media…
I have only very recently started getting into social media, I used to be really opposed to it. I see now that it is an amazing outlet for artists and not just duck-faced idiots posting pictures of themselves. I think it’s really cool that social media allows people to connect with those that they admire and feel somehow close to them, even if they’ve never met or even seen each other.

I would love to have 5 minutes alone with…
Dave Tipper, that guy is a mad man. He makes some of the most beautiful music available today and also some of the most intense and danceable music. I’d love to know what his process is, where he got his start, what makes him jam, etc.

Standing out among music trends…
There certainly is a heavy emphasis on being current and trendy. Making music that is soulful and beautiful is way less common than it should be. However, that being said, people like to party, and if party music is going to help people find their way into a great music scene then so be it. Music is here for healing, and if really simple, party oriented music makes people happy and heals their soul in some way then more power to them.
